Sad to think that people are like this, poor dogs.. I cannot find any bad reviews/reports on her or her company that has been in business for 10 years (I did some brief research before and I am doing extensive now). After all of this is settled and I am satisfied (in hopes that the breeder will stick to her word with contracts, terms and conditions) I will be doing my detailed review. |

I am not accusing anyone of being rude. But before this turns into a bash thread maybe everyone could consider that many people come her completely uninformed about the animal breeding industry. This is a good place to educate people but that impossible if we drive people off with with insults before they are able to learn anything. We have all seen it happen. It makes some people feel better but it has accomplished nothing in the way of changing things. |

To the OP: Miranda918 Do you care to post the site where you found your pup, so that those who are quick to judge can take a look at it before labelling this breeder a byb. I know from experience how some people can throw labels around without first hand knowledge of the person. Which in my opinion is totally uncalled for. Do you know for sure that this women let the 2 pups go to the other breeder at 5 weeks or just that they were spoken for at 5 weeks? Those are two very different things! |

It is very possible for a pup to grow the amount you stated in your initial post. |

Make them feel stupid? What about them making us feel stupid for wasting our time posting, by not being upfront from the beginning??? 'Was I duped by a breeder who did a switcheroo, cos my pup seems bigger than I was expecting'.... is a HELLUVA lot different than.... "do you think my new pup will be too big to breed with my current pup, cos I wanna be a BYBer". If the OP had been upfront from the get-go, maybe some of us wouldn't have wasted our time responding to it. |

I am asking breeders if this is common, because turns out I find out today my dog WAS switched! The breeder I bought from is taking responsibility. |
how did you find out he was switched and what is she going to do regarding it |

She is taking care of the mistake with no issue. If it happens a second time, then I will take proper action. |

So we have two separate issues here - one being that the puppy was 'switched' prior to being sold to the OP at eight weeks . . and is now being replaced. The second issue being that the OP wants to breed the two dogs and doesn't want the male to be too large. I think I have it right. OP, sounds like a mighty shady operation with all this switching going on. I hope you reconsider your idea to breed the replacement puppy. |
I have a very sociable, well trained, healthy, purebred, akc registered female. I think I did a better job raising her than a majority of new owners. I was asking a question to breeders who do this as a business and this is their field of knowledge on the growth of puppies. My accusations were correct as I suspected, I came here for a little back up on my opinion to see what are the possibilities of what happened to my little guy. |
A good breeder doesn't sell a Yorkie before 12 weeks of age, this is the minimum age. Some breeders are now keeping them longer so that they can do a bile acids test before going to the new home. Some people think that you can sell the dogs when the mother stops nursing, but this isn't true for the Yorkie and other toy breeds. Mom and littermates are teaching important socialization skills during this time. Mom will nudge puppy over to pee pad when she smells that it has to urinate, she also teaches inhibition of the biting reflex, two really important skills which may make a huge difference on how the new family treats their yorkie. If you are thinking about breeding a dog, you also want to make sure she has good mothering skills; she learns these things from her mother. The toy breeds are different than other breeds, they have special needs, and that's why places like Yorkietalk are so useful, you can get breed specific information. A breeder who doesn't even abide by the YTCA's suggestions on how long to keep a Yorkie with the mother is a irresponsible in my opinion, and is not really protecting her offspring in blending well with the new family. Maybe you should have just asked about the growth chart then because the title makes it unclear. |

I hope that at least you got some answers. Plus your suspicions were right. The breeder is taking responsibility and thats all that can be expected. I cant say that there aren't serious issues with the breeder and the transfer of the two 5 weeks old pup. That is something that should never ever be done. That right there is signs of an irresponsible breeder. |

It looks to me like you are doing the right thing by using a smaller male for breeding. If it is your desire to do so, I say do it. They are your dogs. I don`t think you will harm your dogs . I would take a pup from you. We can`t all afford these expensive breeders. And, we will love our dogs just as much. I felt like crap the first time I posted here that I was getting a 9 week old pup. My sister in law is the breeder, so if I need her, she is there. Sorry folks. I think you are all trying for the best, it just came across like shame on you, do research. Where? No one offered the ans. |
To me...it all seems too weird. So, the breeder thought you wanted a different puppy? How does the breeder keep track of who is who? Yes. They are your puppies and you can do whatever you would like but please make informed decisions. The people on this website have seen this time and time again and are frankly SICK of hearing about sick puppies and heatlh issues. You definitely need a mentor or someone to guide you. |

do you know she wants to harm her dogs? That is why she wants a smaller male. This is my thoughts. |

1. You obviously, like me, have no real experience in breeding and therefore should state so before giving information, especially wrong information (I know its wrong because I learned it on YT). 2. How sad that you would take a dog from someone who you don't even know, especially someone who is only breeding for sentimental reasons. Pups, regardless of breed should only be purchased from experienced and ethical breeders. (I learned that on YT too). 3. Did you feel like crap because you learned that you and your sister the breeder made an error in taking the pup away from her mother before she should be was not a good thing for the pup? or because we told you the truth? (I'm not sure I understand). 4. Have you told your sister in-law about this site so that she may improve her breeding practices and do what is best for the pup? (because you have learned so much from YT?) 5. It is a shame, and some questions really aren't worth answering, in my opinion. (because I can give one on YT) |
