But now snakes are out too! :(:( On our street today, a Copperhead was killed. We have poisonous ones around here and I know many of you do as well. Please watch your furbabies carefully.

I know that had to scare you when you heard about it. I imagine the heavy rain we've been having is washing them out of their hiding places. I hate snakes, too.

It is just one more thing to worry about. :(:( I live in the country and have to keep my eyes open all the time. A lady down the road lost a Yorkie to a coyote not to long ago. We have to watch for coyotes, skunks, snakes, owls, hawks, and so much more. My girls are never left alone for even a minute. And after 10:00 pm I have been letting them use puppy pads. Just don't want to take any chances at all.

Good reminder. Snakes scare me and freak me out. My mom one year was weeding her garden and she thought there was a really weird weed but it ended up being a baby copper head. My moms beagle mix who is some what over weight and getting old has a snake thing or something she moves fast and will corner the snake and bark until someone comes and takes care of it, its crazy how good she is at it with out touching it but my mom still freaks out and rolls the dogs around to make sure they don't have any bites. Also don't forget about certain spiders that can make you and your dogs sick.

Beagles are good at that. They will corner anything. I miss our Beagles. RIP Yogi, Sugar, and Buck. :(:( They would run anything off that came in this yard. Or kill it one of the two.

My dad has a blue heeler. He was making all kinds of noise and dad went out to check on him. He had a huge black snake in his mouth and bit it in half. :eek::eek::eek: The head part was slithering off when dad got out there. And Smokey had the tail half still in his mouth!

omg yuckie thats freaky that the head part was slithering off.

My Pap Paw always kept Beagles. Swore by them to keep the critters out of the yard

I know but it was. Dad said it would go off and die somewhere. Thank goodness!!!

They really do!! Best critter catchers in the world! :D:D Yogi was so old that he didn't do it much but the other two sure did. We just took in a Walker (some kind of Beagle) but she is still young. Barks like crazy!!

We find snake skins in our yard, and I have seen large snakes, thankfully not poisonous. No copperheads yet. I always remind dad to use tools rather than hands to clean out under shrubs.

I feel your frustration over all the threats to our little ones. One of the many reasons my boys don't get to enjoy off-leash time in the backyard is we have a huge hawk living in our trees. He was sitting on the lawn this week. :( Our neighbor's Yorkie was attacked by hawk, and the only thing that saved him was a little bit of extra weight. The hawk came very close to tearing through his diaphragm.

I know. I'm outside the city limits, too. A month or so ago, I was outside with Kacee in her fenced yard and some big coyotes went running through the open part of our yard! I'm always seeing hawks. I've seen this huge owl a couple of times across the road in some trees. It is just sitting there when I've seen it. I didn't know they were that big! I killed a rattlesnake just outside her fenced yard one year. It was sunning itself when I almost walked over it.

Oh our Beagles have been such sweet babies. I totally love them!! We had lost all three of them too close together. :(:( It is so hard on me when our pets go to rainbow bridge. Even if they are old and have lived good lives. It is still hard. Swore I would not have any more of them. Then.....well we rescued this Walker Beagle. She was past starved. I cried like a baby when he brought her home to me. Don\'t know how she was even still alive. Let\'s just say she is a happy girl now!! Meet Miss Ginger!

It is. I always go out with her and I keep her grass cut very short.

Are you supposed to have any of these storms tonight? I'm shaking in my boots.
