Bitter apple spray didn't work for my Izzy, she loved the taste:p Someone here said to use a stick deodorant and that worked like a charm, she hasn't chewed the baseboards or furniture since:laugh: Just get a cheap dollar store men's deodorant and rub it wherever she's been chewing. I guarantee she won't chew there anymore. It doesn't damage the wood, and can be wiped off easily when you think the urge is gone. Good luck:D!! |
Okay just finished putting my husbands deodorant on the places i have noticed her chewing. i can see how it would work, they're not going to like that taste. |
The bitter apple spray didn't work for us either. I try to keep Katie Scarlett's toys swapped out and it has done the trick. I guess she was trying to tell me she was bored. And bully sticks keep her occupied for a long time. |
Is she teething? Is it happening when nobody is home? I had this problem w/Princess when she was about 6/7 months old, my vet said it could be separation anxiety. Whenever I had to leave, I connected 2 x-pens together in the room they were in so she couldn't get to the wall. She eventually outgrew it. When they're supervised, you can give them a chew toy or bully stick. |
Had to do a few things out today and couldn't bring Millie along so i stopped and bought her a couple bully sticks I don't think she has let up on this thing scince I gave it to her, she is even wearing her t shirt which means she must be very busy to leave it on. |
Rylee Belle tends to chew on MY shoes !!!! Try a bully stick...........it works!!!! |

Bailey went through a chewing phase. He probably still does, but we haven't found his destruction lately. For us it was the antlers that did the trick. As I have talked about before, these are all natural deer and or elk antlers which they shed each season. He likes the 4-5" ones that aren't too thick on one end. I got a few that are a bit wide on one side and he doesn't really like them as much. I just prefer him having antlers to bully sticks now that I know what they are! |

Well, did the deodorant work? I'm curious to see if this method works for most dogs, or just my crazy chewer! I just caught her chewing on the toy basket the other day so had to whip out the deodorant again, she hasn't chewed on it since:laugh: |
