| Heads Up...... http://www.theparrotboard.net/Forums...cons/icon4.png Waggin' Train Chicken Jerky Treats Please use caution if you feed these to any of your dogs. We have recently had 3 possible cases of illness from eating these treats; including a death as of yesterday.

She is now back to her normal self and is acting like her own self again...I;m not sure what they have in those treats, but when this Lady a Vet Tech posted this, I thought perhaps I would take her off.....and sure enough....I cant thank her enough for saving my little girl... I just wanted to share this up date with all of you...please, please dont feed them the waggin tails

| That's great. Now if we could just get them to stop putting them on shelves.

| I've gotten so paranoid about what treats to give my girls... the terminex man gave me two dog bones for them (open, unwrapped, no name imprint) and I threw them away immediately... not knowing what they are and where they came from isn't worth the risk IMO. I sure wish stores (especially walmart and target) would stop carrying these products for all the unsuspecting customers to continue to purchase. Best thing we can do until they do pull them from the shelves is to continue to post (for new members who may not be aware) and spread the word to all friends and family with furbabies to be sure their treats and food are made in the USA from USA sourced products.

| This topic has been written about many times, but it's always worth a reminder. If you are new to the topic PLEASE search China, and chicken jerky and you will get lots of thread with important info. My theory is that they can't find the cause because it is not an ADDITIVE in the production, but maybe it is in THE FOOD THEY FEED THE CHICKENS. Perhaps the problem in inherent in the actual chicken meat. Who KNOWS what they are raising the chickens on? If that is the cause I am sure it will be hard to find it.....Meanwhile, I just cooked a fresh batch of chicken jerky with and W/o sweet potato in my very own $35 dehydrator from Amazon. Please note the directions on mine warn to heat chicken jerky for 30 minutes at 165 in the over to be sure salmonella is killed. I guess the dehydrator must be more like 140 degrees....... |

| So glad that the only treats my dogs get are Cesar, Nutrdent and USA bully sticks. I have always been a label reader, I don't even like chew toys that are from China, just don't know what they are made of.

| Someone one here posted that in tiny, fine little print, in some obscure section of the packet, one of the treats they were buying was made in China.....I always read the labels but I became so fearful I would miss the origin of something that I stopped buying treats back with the very first recall on all that dog food and stuff....and I never did feed the chicken jerky because it seemed too "sharp" and I was afraid my group would choke to death or puncture the inside of their mouth! But I too bought my dehydrator and have been doing all my own treats for years now.... I give Bully Sticks, but after that baby got choked on here, I am terrified of those! And these Himalayan Chews...??? YAK milk???!! How are these things cured???!!! They scare me! Maybe it is the name and the yak milk!!!!! Do we even have yaks in the US???!!! |

| I've been giving him Zuke's Mini Naturals and/or Cheerios for training. The UPS delivery woman and other places like the bank are always trying to hand out treats. They look like milk bones, but who knows. I need to get better at politely refusing. Or just toss them. I hate when I see Waggin' Train stuff still on the shelves. I'm glad I joined this forum because in the beginning I was feeding him a half of a WT stick (not jerky) a day. |
