cindy, tell us what you did to stop it...you did a great job... i wish i could do that... how? |
sugars mom, after i feed her in the morning i do leave her dry food so she can eat if she gets hungry, but its always there when i get home.. she really only eats when im home... dont know why, but its true... even her bully sticks are not touched cause im not home... she has to lean on me to eat them.. funny huh? |
Gina, I am sorry but I never started with this group so they don't expect it. I can tell you that I feed my gang at 5:00 am and dinner between 5/5:30 pm they start staring at me or barking at me at 5:00pm on the nose (this always amazes me that they know the time when I should feed them) and I don't eat until maybe an hour later when they are settling for their nap after dinner. So I feed them twice a day and I always have dry kibble down. Also they never get human food from me (unless ill and I do the rice/chicken thing)only dog treats so maybe this has something to do with it. I agree with Sugar's Mom and, feed your little one twice a day (if they are suppose to eat 1/2 cup a day then I feed 1/4 am and 1/4 Pm) and feed dinner when you eat. My gang is just not hungry when I eat. I was thinking that maybe you do the kong toy while you eat also but then you would have to do it for each meal, but it is a thought. |
My baby is the same way about not eating or chewing on her bully stick unless I am home. She likes me to hold it for her! :D I also give her the kong with a treat in it if she has finished eating before we have. Good luck with your training and it is hard on you but you will have a better behaved dog so she can visit other people. |

Begging is so hard to stop once it starts. I remember about a year ago, my parents were over for dinner and they brought a cherry pie. Well, my dad thought it would be cute to give Tatum a lick of the cherry filling off his finger. Of course he got in trouble because all of a sudden, Tatum started begging after that. It only took a few days of ignoring it to make her stop but that was only after ONE taste of the "people food" so it may take a little longer of tough love to deprogram one that's been fed like yours has. Good luck! Other than that one instance, Tatum just doesn't beg. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that she gets NO people food. Only dog food and dog treats. But what I had to share is that in the mornings, I get up really early and have to eat my bowl of Cocoa Puffs first thing. I am so hungry in the morning that this bowl of CP is so brimming full (big bowl yet too!) that a couple of them sometimes roll out and hit the floor on the way to the table. Tatum knows that this might happen and is always on the lookout. Other than that though, sometimes she comes and sits by my chair and stares at me when we eat dinner but it's only so she can get up and lay on my lap while I eat. She doesn't even try to look at my plate. That probably needs to stop too (she just started it recently) but it's just too darn cute to see that little face. |
