My Town has a Free Rabies clinic for dogs and Cats and is done at our DPW, in late May under the sun, I think is GREAT, otherwise LOTS of dogs and cats will not recieve their rabies Vaccine, if you see the line you might think is an obscure thing but in a small building at the end of the dead end road is a small office building where the Vet is, usually he is just dressed in a shirt and pants, but his credentials are there behind him, and the certificate is sign by him. Usually is him and two Vet Techs working the lines. I have never had to use it because my son works at a EVC , but if need be I would go use it. My Groomer takes her Pitbull there every 3 years..and my son has volunteer and work with them a few years back.. I am greatful my town gives their residents this great service. hugs, |
Well, hopefully they were sponsored by a community entity responsible for assuring that they were professionals who had real medicine and some way to treat bad reactions. I would hate to think folks would just go get a vaccine from anybody that pulled their truck to the side of the road, put up a sign and started giving dogs and cats shots but I know many would. Hopefully it's legit and the little dogs aren't given 5 vaccines at once and taken home to try to get through it. |

Pet Med The mobile vets are very popular in SC. It is ran by a vet that has an office, but does this on the weekends. I take my dogs all of the time, with 6 dogs it can be expensive. My regular vet will listen to their heart, look at them some and charge an office visit on top of the charge for the shots. I get the dogs shots for $15 at the mobile location. They are usually set up in parking lots. One time it was hot and he was running late and he told the people at the store and they came out and offered to give any of the animals water. He does wear a white coat but everyone knows Dr. Stan around here. Any time my dogs are sick, etc they go to the regular vet. The price of the heartworm medicine from him is about half the price my vet charges. |
In our county the area vets volunteer and set up at different schools a couple of Saturdays in the spring and fall for a low cost Rabies clinic. There are so many people in our area that live in poverty that this is the only way they can get their pets Rabies shots. I am pretty sure that they only do Rabies and not any other vaccines because my DIL volunteers to help out when the vet she works for is doing one of the clinics. Maybe this was something like that. It seems they could have found a better location than by the side of a busy road. |
I just looked on the TX Veterinary website and there is actually a permit that is required to set up a clinic. Notice it asked for the License Numbers of that participating Vets in the clinic. http://www.tbvme.state.tx.us/documen...nationForm.pdf Microchipping Quote:

I'm sure if the county or city is sponsoring the clinic they have the credentials that are needed. I'm sure they would be busted for having an illegal clinic going on right by the road side. |

I get why they are popular I do. I personally just don't agree to them. I pay 25.95 a month for Ralph's insurance and we get free blood work, free vet visits, and all vaccines are free. Well I guess not free but covered and so much more is covered. I will also say my state is very popular for letting there dogs sit outside in there backyard all day and never let them in there house. Which makes me cry when I see those dogs in the rain all alone :( |
