Omg, oscar scared me nearly to death. I was sitting on the sofa and he was playing on the floor and all of the sudden he starts acting like he was choking on something. I picked him up looked in his mouth , nothing there. I held him with his head down and patted his back still nothing. He swallowed a couple times then he seemed fine. I don't know , maybe he swallowed one of his baby teeth. He seems ok now, but i will keep an eye on him. It scared the life out of me i am still shaking as i type this.... |
That would have scared me to death, too. If he is teething, then I would think it was probably one of his teeth. |
OMG!! I would have been so scared!! I am always keeping an eye on Riley when he is chewing on his bones. Riley will occasionally go into a reverse sneezing fit and it freaks me out!! It probably was just a tooth!! So glad he is okay!! :) |
Happen to me once too with Brandi. Scariest freakin thing ever! |
That is scary and it was probably a tooth,,,I hate when they acted choked or even make an odd sound. |
Thx for the support guys, yeah he seems fine now.... |
It is scary when you think they are choking. Glad he was ok. |

thx so much... |
Do you think it could have been like a reverse sneeze thing? Sometimes when Gracie gets excited she starts doing this awful sounding thing that is like half choking and half trying to get a breath. I guess that's not a great description but it is very hard to watch and listen to. It subsides after a minute. |

He has never done that before. Scared the crap outta me . |
Omg . I went thru a major choking incident a few years ago w/ my Marcel (with a chew treat). I almost lost him. Good for you for reacting quickly...so glad he is okay! |
Been through that with each of my Yorkies! They must have the tiniest little throats - well, I know Scotty and Jilly did as they were so small. But Tibbe who is a mid-sized Yorkie has done that once, too. Just about panicked until he stopped it before I had a chance to get down to him. Watched him every moment next two days and he got kind of creeped out by me following him every where he went. He would look back at me finally kind of "What is your problem???" It got funny - he didn't like constant observation one little bit. But eventually I realized it was just a fluke kind of something and relaxed. He hasn't done it again and yours probably won't either. |
I'm glad he's ok. |

Oscar gave me that same look ... |
Glad to hear he is ok! I know the feeling of getting scared with anything out of the ordinary with Bentley, too. |
Jilly had one of those major near-death experiences choking on a chewie, too, but I knew what caused that episode. But she and Scotty in their time and Tibbe now have choked from I don't know what and then got alright on their own before I could get to them and I never knew what caused those times. I guess it had to be something they had found on the floor somewhere and tried to eat or it was a baby tooth or something. Or could have been a pharyngeal spasm or something? It sure shakes you up badly. |
So glad he's okay! Oscar...quit scaring your Mommie like that! |
I found this video on youtube that is a pretty good example of a reverse sneeze and what to do with it. It may not be what Oscar was doing but just in case: |
I'd never heard of that. I'm going to try that. Tibbe does that about twice a year and next time it happens, I am going to try that. |
