Could she had gotten pregnant on day 16 or 18? My 4 1/2 year old Yorkie went into heat March 4th (Day 1) meet with male on day 6, 8, 10, & 15 but no tie. On day 16 she was still bleeding a light color and tied with male. On day 17 her discharged turned to black? On Day 18 they tied again. On day 19 bleeding has stopped. Could she had gotten pregnant on day 16 or 18? Thank You, Rebecca |
yes, is very posible.. my female silky terriers, tied with my male on day 18 or 19, according to my vet, by my count was day 20+, she had a litter of puppies, her last litter, I am having her spayed next month, this was an ooooops litter and I am having a very hard time placing the pups..this economy is horrible, and people seem to only want 2 pounders.. and I REFUSE to breed any breed of tinies.. hugs, |
Thank you so much Carmen that is so helpful! Good luck on selling your pups, and your right so many want the tiny ones not understanding or knowing how they became so little and the health risk with them. This is my one and only time breeding her, my daughter wanted a pup as well as the young lady at the coffee house. I will keep a close eye on her and look for changes :) I just joined the sight this morning and was disappointed when I received two slaps on the hand right out of the gate lol. Thanks again for your helpful replay! |
Update Destiny has just started into her 5 week, she saw the vet last week and he felt 2 puppies! |

What are you talking about? My Destiny and the Father BJ are excellent breeds. She is 4 years old and I wanted to breed her before she is 5, it is her one and only time, I am wanting to keep a pup for myself. Why would I buy a pup for my daughter from some stranger or puppy mill when my Destiny will give a much better breed and I know she and the dad have been well care for and loved? I came on this forum in search for good, sound advice from others who have gone down this road. But I keep reading so much from people that just judge others and their choice to breed their own dog. Think I will look for another site, have no need for such negativity in my life. God Bless you |
It is what it is, it is already done now. There are a lot of good breeders on here that might help you get through this. Please keep us updated and do what you need to do to make sure she is safe and so are the puppies.. After this litter please get her spayed :D |

I didnt see anyone getting negative. I hope you stick around and get advice. Not everyone is going to tell you what you want to hear. On a forum you get many different opinions |

There is so many knowledgeable people on YT. I would hope that you stay. Please understand our passion for the breed and animals in general and that's why you may have felt that there was negative posts. I hope you keep us updated and everything goes well for your sweet girl. |
Not to defend the OP, but i see this happen over and over, why do we have to go so negative in all breeding threads? she asked a very simple question and she should had gotten a simple answer, this is why people go, I thought we are here to enjoy the chat and HELP the humans that ask for help, not to judge their actions, if we help the human in return Hopefuly he dog will get help, we don't encorage anyone to breed, but I see that by the time they get here the deeds or their minds are set, and maybe we can change one persons mind, is not going to happen with negativity, you catch more flys with sugar than vinegar... Am I so wrong? I am starting to feel that all the negative threads hurt this forum more than help it.. just saying... hugs, |

I think there is a fine line between offering help to those in need ~ but also not being a forum that encourages breeding willy nilly. There are valid concerns that people who are even thinking about breeding want to know. Not every two dogs should be bred - just because we want to. We all remember pet overpopulation, right? That hasn't gone away. As we have recently seen in other threads ~ breeding is not for the faint of heart - not to be taken lightly - and not without heartache. |

I agree, but MAYBE, we can offer advise in a more positive note, I try so hard to offer advise while telling them, how hard and sacrificial is to breed your girl, I know it can be done, but if we start by telling them how horrible of a person they are, I feel that they are not going to even finish reading and just shut us off and not get the right advise, that I just how I feel, and this is why sometimes I don't even post because by the time I post trying to help the dog,the thread has gone so negative that I think the person is not even going to read what I write and the whole thread goes viral with negative judgemental posts, meanwhile the poor dog is probably in danger, I hope we can turn this into a HELP the dog message, and is ok to tell the person how HARD and the risks they are taking with their girl life, but without the need to attack the human,so they can read and learn the RIGHT of Breeding.. like NO all dogs should be bred, etc.. and the HIGH risk of mortality for mom and babies. hugs, |

 Absolutely! When negative things seem to be 'necessary' to be noticed/conveyed/said, I see no reason why they cannot be said in a kind, polite, positive, and helpful way. Your initial response to the OP was spot on, too...a concise answer to a specific question. Take care! |

Pregnant on the 18th day Yes it is quite possible. I have one who is never ready until the 18th day. Good Luck and let us know how she is doing. |

We all have opinions and are entitled to share. Certainly, I wish the OP well and hope her little girl has no problems - but I can't and won't pretend that I think this was a good idea. |

The dog is going to have puppies So let's help as much as we can. Wishing you good luck and please keep us posted on how it is going. And please don't leave we all have opinions that is what makes this forum what it is. People loving there pets. |
Slap, OUCH ! Sorry, we just love Yorkies so much, we almost forget their human has feelings. I am not criticizing anyone. Just tossing my thoughts out there. I admit, I stopped responding to most posts about breeding because, I don't like how most of them get negative. I agree with Carmen and Chachi, I hope the OP sticks around. We really do want to help each other. I try to educate, give good facts, advice and I do encourage people to spay and neuter. After the dog is already bred, I change my focus to help with the already pregnant Yorkie. (Yes I know, I preach spay all the time. I work with rescues, abandoned, and unwanted dogs. I have seen first hand the awful results of puppy mills and many back yard breeders. About 99 % of dogs should never be bred ) I also suggest spay after this litter is delivered. The OP already has stated that she intends only one litter. I hope all goes well and that she has a problem free delivery and a beautiful, healthy litter. Yorkie Talk is a wonderful resource, Please stick with us and remember it is free advice, you can ignore anyone, who really annoys you ! |
Day 57 babies born I am thankful to say Destiny had her babies this morning 3 boys and 1 girl. She was only at day 57 but babies and mommy are doing great! We had gone off for the weekend to go boating for our anniversary and the vet said it was ok for us to take her on the boat as long as it was not rough water. She did great, mostly set in my lap she wanted to play but just did not have much get-up and go. I was shocked when she woke me at 4am this morning licking my hand and I felt her tummy and she was having contractions. The first two were born by 5:30 2 boys, then an hour later a girl came butt first and before she was completely out a 3rd boy started coming butt first also :secret: it was almost two hours later before they started eating but they did start eating! Mom is doing great and is drinking and eating too! It is now 10:35 am and all is well!! Thankful |
