Unfortunately irresponsible dog owners ruin it for all. Your county voters decided that this might help them get rid of a stray dog problem. Also, dog fighting is very big, and the people do not want the dogs linked to them, with a microchip authorities will no who owes what dog, and this is thought to help control illegal dog fighting. Joey's chipped and it makes me feel safer. |

Gracie is micro chipped but I did it of my own free will. It is unfortunate but these town and city councils can make whatever laws they want to. Many people don't get involved in their local politics but this is a good example of why we should be closely involved in what is going on in local politics. A town council near where I live made it against the law to let your cat outside. I was watching a news piece on TV just this week about a couple with 4 dogs who purchased a house in a certain residential area. When they were all moved in they were informed by the local police that they have a law that they cannot have more than 2 dogs. Now they are selling the house and will be taking a huge loss because they will not get rid of one of their dogs. In the mean time the town is trying to fine them $1000.00 a day for having their dogs. |

Yes the guy was legitimate. I also looked up codes for my city and they are now requiring the micro chip, so that is accurate. I live in Riverside, California. All I can say is California...one of the most regulated states there are...we have laws up the wazoo. I guess I was just taken back when the guy showed up yesterday. I mean Copper is neutered (also required unless you are a "known" breeder what ever the heck that means) has all his shots, rabies, etc. and licensed. I have complied with the law. He wears a collar with his name and my information. He weighs 4 lbs, is not vicious and is in the house or with me or a responsible caregiver. I realize he could get lost through unusual circumstances. But come on...what more can you ask of us as pet owners? I have decided to wait a while before I micro chip him. It still bugs me to do this. |

I wish we had more laws about dog ownership where I live. The majority of people are irresponsible (let their dogs roam, leave their dogs out during the day and or night, don't have collars on their dogs... etc). I think the microchipping law would be something that could be enforced and make people accountable for their pets. People here just drop their dogs off at the shelter like it's no big deal... It's sad! |

They did not give me a time limit. Just said to call the number underlined after I had it done. They gave me a flyer for a cheap clinic. I wouldn't use that clinic even if it was free. Nothing against the clinic; I would use my own vet. It is not about the money for me. We aren't rolling in dough...but I know we could afford this. I just don't want to do this. I don't want to put my dog through another vet visit and I don't want to be forced to do this when I feel like I have resonably complied with the law. |
