I feel horrible
 
I usually take Cooper out about 5 times a day today I was going out about 2pm, had taken him for a walk about noon, so before i went out out opened the back door let him run out go potty I left the screen door open for him, it was such a nice day he wanted to go for another walk so we went and came in the front door, I came home about 8 and Cooper did not come to the door I walked to the back and realized i left the back door open Cooper let himself out.. The people up the street saw Him about 4 pm but he was so scared he ran off and seems like nobody has seen him since, I don't keep his collar on inside my last 2 dogs died of ct, Cooper wears a harness but not inside. He just got groomed last week So he for sure looks like he is well taken care of. I hope he is inside with someone I called the police put out 250 flyers, been out walking for hours. Called all the local animal shelters and anyone else I could think of. I'm so sad and just can't forgive myself

I am so sorry and I hope you find him. I will be praying he comes home. This is why collars are so important.

Call 1st thing in the A.M. & put an ad in the lost & found in your local news paper as that's usually the 1st place people will look & if someone has found him they may also put an add in the paper and I forgot if you said but did you put in in craigslist ? I'll be praying for your babies safe return.

Ty I called the paper, put flyers up went door to door called all the shelters, Cooper doesn't wear his harness inside, I didnt know I left the back door open. He is almost 4 pounds he hates the harness on inside and my last two dogs died of ct so he only wears a harness not a collar. he has a chip but doesn't do much if he isnt turned into a vet or a shelter, shelter near me doesn't have a reader so it's a moot point anyway.

Just wearing a collar cant cause collapsing trachea its when I leash is attached or there is pulled on it that can cause the collapsing trachea.

I am so sorry! He is probably scared and may be hiding somewhere. Try taking his favorite squeaky toy around the neighborhood. Under the General Forum, there is a sticky about how to find lost dogs. Maybe it can give you a few suggestions you haven't already thought of. I'll be praying for your baby's safe return.

my heart is breaking for you because i have been there and knows how it feels...i hope he finds his way home to you soon...keep strong because he needs you too...will be checking back for updates...

I'm so sorry, when you said you let him out the backdoor to potty i assumed you had a fenced in backyard. Hopefully someone with a kind heart has taken him in, he couldnt have gone too far. Don't beat yourself up either just focus on finding him.

My 250 signs paid off.. I found Cooper, I was up all night looking for him and put a sign on every car and pole I could find. At about 6 am I walked arou d the development behind me, he was seen by a few people up until about 8pm but nobody could catch him,,, he is fast and scared. He doesn't usually wonder he was a stud dog I rescued that lived in a cage for 2 years. Anyway a nice lady called me said she saw my song couldn't wait with my dog but told me where she saw him,, he wasn't there but I looked and looked called and called left my garage door open for him,, then walked around back of my house he was there, seems he was out all night was soaked full of spurs and so happy to see me,,, not nearly as happy as I was to see him... I cut out the spurs he had a drink, looked at me gave me a dirty look then went to sleep. I'm going to get a few hours sleep then go take my signs down. I'm so happy he is home. Hope he doesn't stay upset long

Oh, thank goodness! I'm so happy for both of you that he's back safe and sound. Poor little guy probably needs a long nap after the night he had.
