Bad news :(
 
Jude got hospitalized today. I spend triple of what he cost me and it looks like it will be more.. just a warning to those who buy from certain breeders.. I didn't do my homework and I ignore the signs the breeder wasn't very good. All I wanted was Jude.. He has Giardia which cost him to have diarrhea so his blood sugar went down and he wasn't moving. The vet called saying he is better but might have to stay another night there. Praying he gets better.

So sorry this happened, I know so many people who thought they were being careful with their money by finding a cheaper dog, but it turned out costing them a fortune. While it's true even good breeders occasionally have an sickly dog, a good breeder will usually give you the money up to your purchase price back, and I know a few that have done even more when surgery was needed. Nothings is 100%, but you certainly increase your chances of getting a healthy dog, when you go to a reputable breeder. Don't feel too bad, I'm sure most of us here have made the same mistake, and I hope Jude has a speedy recovery.

I'm sorry your little one and you are having to go through this. I hope your vet has given you good information about Giardia. It's important to prepare for when he is better and comes home. I pray he will recover soon.

I am glad little Jude is better.....this is treatable and he will be fine. About the hypoglycemia...be SURE you have NutriStat or NutraCal (essentially the same thing!) on hand at all times! Have tubes of this stuff EVERY PLACE you go and wherever you go....in the car, at home, in your purse ...er, briefcase!....you dont want to ever let his sugar drop so far he passes out or has seizures....you now KNOW his sugar drops, so be prepared in case that happens to you in the future! Get all the information you can from your vet on Giardia...these are all issues that can be worked with....Good luck with your baby!

My boy is battling giardia as well!! He's doing ok. Better than before, had a bought w diarrhea and some bleeding. Giardia w/ coccidiosis YIKES. This is my first puppy so the blood was pretty scary a week after I got him. Coccidiosis is gone but still has the G. Only way I knew he still had it was due to the fecal test. Just finished a second round of medication AND now on anti-poop eating medication which will also help eliminate the G.

Good luck with Jude. He is in good care now. I know you must have been really scared and upset. He will be fine.

You have not had him very long either have you. i can remember your post about getting him!! Sure hope he gets better!! Did you call the breeder

It is really important to disinfect every place that the sick dog has been. Clean up and disinfect every where that he has eliminated. Also all toys, etc need to be cleaned and disinfected to prevent reinfection.

How long have you had the puppy? Does the puppy lemon law apply in your state? google it, you may be able to have breeder reimburse you for vet bills. DO NOT DELAY! time limits apply.

aww, I hope Jude is doing even better now. I am sorry that this has happened. Please don't beat yourself up. I know how scary it is to see a sick furbaby...so I hope you feel better as well.....
