Aww im sorry to her this happen to both of you.. I glad your baby is well though.. I did the same thing to Brandy because when she came home from the vet her nails were to long she was scratching everyone. So I got the special clipper and when she jumped it happened.. lucky for me I had the sep. powder ready... After that I just file her nails.. I went to the nail section in rite aid and got this really big file with the hard side and buffing side.. I used both sides for her and It works for us.. I do it once a week because her nails grow fast.. Plus the file has a lifetime warrenty so if anything happens to it I could send it back..pays off in the long run. Good luck it happens.. |
I did that once too! I cut Chloes sisters claw and my gosh the amount of bleeding is horrible. I was so traumatized that I will never attempt that again. Both my girls have black claws so I can't see the quick. This is something I just leave to the groomer. I know just how you feel! |
Those things that grind the nails are a good little thing to try. We used the one they used to advertize on TV but they sell better ones in the pet supply stores like petedge.com. I think they are listed under nail grinders. It's like filing down the nail instead of clipping it. You just need to get them so they are familiar with the sound before you start touching them with it. It's a good idea to use a grinder even after clipping especially in the summer time. It takes the rough edge off the nail so of they happen to put put their nails on your legs when your wearing shorts. My groomer always files Gracie's nails. |
I cut my babies nails with a kitty clipper. It looks like a scissor. I find it hard to get that big clipper under their nails to clip them. My Coco has nails that kind of dont grow straight out they curl right away. I just take the edge off. Then in about 2 weeks I take the edge off. I don't go for the gusto if you know what I mean. Just don't try to take so much off all at once. |
Oh bless your heart! I know that must've been so scary! Hugs to you! |
