Not a "real" yorkie. /argggggh The future MIL told me the other day that my baby was not a "real" yorkie. Supposedly her co-worker has them and there is no way mine is "real". My papers would like to have a word with her! She's basing this off of the fact that I didn't pay thousands of dollars for him -- which is true. But what she DOESN'T know is that he has that long snout face, floppy ears, and instead of being black and tan he's black tan and silver. He isn't "desirable" for breeding or showing so I got him for a great price. Makes me want to slap her silly! /hmph |
Sign on to YT next time you see her & show her just how different one yorkie can look from another here in the pic or video section. Some people can be so rude. But he could be part Monkey, climbing the cat tree the way he does, lol |
i hear ya. i've heard similar comments from a few people in public due to the fact that my little boy is a chocolate yorkie. you rarely see that color. hence the comments. "oh that's a yorkie" or "is that a yorkie mix?" "wow , he is big for a yorkie" . geez , he only weighs 6 pounds.. i proudly answer their question. he is beautiful and i love him no matter what anyone thinks. your baby is gorgeous too. you know it , so who cares what your mil thinks. am i right ? |
I think future mil is your only problem!! If it were anyone else - you'd probably tell them where to get off! :D Your Littlie's colouring is very similar to our Harry's...and he's 16 lbs! He's a pedigree through and through, too - maybe she should pay a visit to the UK? Most of ours are bigger...and paler...and floppier!!! :D Sally + Harry x |
Youre mother in law is that rude to you now just wait untill you are married. Seriously I deal with a rude Mother in law. Youre fiance probably didnt say anything to her about her rude comment also because that is typical of a son with a rude mom |
I'm always amazed at how rude some people are to others...your baby is too cute, ignore the remarks. |
Oh, don'cha just love it!!! You know: "Stupid people don't know they're stupid." They think they are smart. I had a complete stranger argue that my known-to-be-purebred Yorkie was a Silky. Someone else "has a friend who breeds Silkies and they sent her the picture of my baby, who said they could tell from the cellphone camera photo that it was a Silky." Well, all righty then...that settles it...case closed...the former owners, and purchasers of my dog, clearly know nothing about him...! :p In the case of a MIL...future or existing...what you do about it depends on so much. Speaking of MIL comments...oh, and I've got lots of 'funny' [odd] comments in my storybook...my former MIL said I was "feeding my [human] baby too fast," my at-the-time-DH-and-children's-father echo'd his umbilical-attached-mom's sentiments and further embellished with a lie that he'd "talked to a lady doctor at Boston Childrens' and she said the same thing"...but OMG!...you should have seen the look OUR pediatrician gave me when I told HIM! TOO FUNNY! He said, "if he's got his mouth empty [which he did] and open [which he did], waiting for the next bite [which he was], you are feeding him TOO SLOW!" :eyetearss If MIL doesn't believe he's a Yorkie, even though your papers say otherwise, maybe you could tell her you found out he's not...that he's a Great Dane...or a St. Bernard...or a Sheep Dog...because someone YOU know/work with/just met AGREED WITH HER and said so! :D |
Or a Bearded Collie puppy - I've done that before....!!!! :D ;) x |

wow well i hope you can just ignore thoes comments and go about your business. not very nice.. |
I think she has a vendetta against the poor little angel because he's MY dog and she doesn't seem to care for me. She's never outwardly awful -- just says random things like this. She's very "dense" and doesn't understand that you can't just say what you want out loud all the time. I was talking to my bf and he sees that she says these things, but she almost has the mind of a 14 year old girl at times -- and he just tells me to ignore it and that he is sorry. ANYWHO -- back to the Yorkie talk -- I will definitely tell her he's just a miniature irish wolfhound the next time her "co-worker" says my dog was too cheap to be a REAL yorkie. Males are almost always less expensive -- and I paid almost $700 so that isn't TOO cheap, gosh! (not for someone working full time and going to college). |

MIL's wow sometimes they will think of just about anything to be mean. Some don't realize their son is not a little boy but a grown man wanting a life, wife and family of his own. Sometimes getting a registered dog or puppy will bring out the worst in people you thought were friends and sometimes especially MIL's get their back up. My thought is plain old jealousy. I remember years ago a woman that got a puppy from me got no end of grief from a few friends, putting her down and one actually asked her exactly who does she think she is buying a registered dog? Don't let MIL pull you down to her level. You have a very nice little dog that the breeder recognized as a nice pet and sold him to you as such. As an aside, my folks never knew to the day they died what I paid for my very first YOrkie who was a pet. I would never have heard the end of it if I told them so never would. |
MIL just seem to know exactly how to get under your skin. I guess it is just a gift they have. LOL |
