My daughter worked at a vets office for a few years. And it is hard to see a old dog be put to sleep. But the worse for her were the people that came in and said we are moving or we just don't want them anymore. Here's the money and just put them to sleep and do whatever you do with their bodies. That just killed her. She would suggest rehoming and they said no this is what they wanted. So very sad. When strays came in she would try to get them into a local no kill shelter or find homes. Not always possible but her and the groomer always tried.
| I just could not be a vet and do this to a door whose only offense was he was in the way or inconvenient. I just couldn't. I know some owners might fear that their dogs, once given up, might go to a home where it might suffer terrible horrors and then death but how can they not, if the dog is not terribly ill, at least give it a chance that it will at least likely go to a good home? |
