In your opinion is my Chewie a Silky/Yorkie/Mixture? 4 Attachment(s) I couldn't care less either way as I love him to pieces regardless, but we were at my fiance's aunt and uncle's house the other night, who own two Yorkies, and his aunt mentioned that she thought Chewie was a Silky Terrier and not a Yorkie. When I bought him, he was sold to me as a Yorkie...I actually had no idea about the Silky Terrier breed until the other night. He's 6-months-old, weighs about 6-7 pounds (a guesstimation, last official weigh in was 5lbs over 2 months ago). He is registered with CKC (which I know should be taken with a grain of salt)... When we bought him, he wasn't cheap, but he didn't cost an arm and a leg either (compared to some prices I've seen for Yorkies), so again it doesn't really matter to me or my fiance, as he's our little prince charming, but it would be nice to know. What do you guys think? I've read the AKC description of both breeds, but I feel like I'm not in a position to say either way what he is. Just thought I'd ask you guys:) |
He looks like a yorkie to me :) a little cutie. She may of been going by his size but lots of yorkies get bigger. |

I agree... Yorkie ! |
My personal opinion is that he is a Yorkie. Silkies are very different... All Yorkies are not made from a cookie cutter pattern, so there are all sizes, all colors, ears erect, ears floppy, hair silky or cotton, hair straight or somewhat curly, and many other things....looks like he is going to be silver and gold, a pretty color combination. |
Little Chewy looks like a Yorkie to me too. He is just precious. I love his happy little expressive face:) |
Looks like yorkie to me. What a cutie. |
He looks like a yorkie to me...but I'm no expert... What I can say for sure is that He is an adorable boy! So precious :) |
Omg, he is too cute. Yeah, he looks like a yorkie to me ! |
looks like a yorkie to me...my Orion is about 8lbs where as his sister Raelle is 4lbs...i have heard that some yorkies are bigger. He is a cutie...love his expressions! |
I agree with everyone he looks like a Yorkie to me. They don't all look the same my nieces Yorkie is 3lbs bigger than Georgie and his face looks very different but they are both Yorkies. I think the "standard" Yorkie is between 4-7lbs but I also have seen plenty of Yorkies over 7lbs. I am in no way an expert just what I have read. BTW Chewy is so cute!!!:D |
Looks yorkie to me too :) I love his ears and his coloring... too cute! |
Looks like a yorkie to me too, such a cutie... |
He's a yorkie to me. But it's hard to tell unless you do one of those DNA tests that will show it's real background |
He looks like a pretty darn cute yorkie to me :) he may just be a bigger yorkie. |
Chewie is adorable!! He looks like a Yorkie to me!:) |
Thanks everyone!:) |
Hes a yorkie. My breeder thinks my Chachi is a silky too because of his size but he is a bigger yorkie |
He looks like a yorkie to me! He looks just like my Ella if her ears were down lol!! |
He looks like a Yorkie to me too. |
3 Attachment(s) My Sadie is 100 percent silky and she has the longer snout. I believe your baby is Yorkie. Here is Sadie Mae. |
I say he's 100% Cutie! hehe |
I agree with the others... looks like a yorkue to me. The silky 's have a longer muzzle... |
He looks Yorkie to me, too. I am no expert....but I see no need to worry over other people's opinions. He is definitely a cutie pie. :D |
He looks all yorkie to me. And an adorable one at that! |
Well here is shocker for all...LOL NOT all silkies have a longer snout... My Harry is a silky, bred in Australia, and I brought him here, so I know he is a silkie, DNA tested... and he has a somewhat shorter snout, is a yorkie gene that the silkies have, remember silkies are a mix of Australian Terrier with the Yorkshire terrier.. My opinion on your baby is that he could be either or, we need to see how his body develps of do a DNA test.. one trait All silkies share is the obolong body, they are longer than they are taller... hugs, Carmen |
looks like a yorkie to me! |

I did not know that some Silkies can have the smaller snout. Sadie is longer and she passes that gene on to Little Bit who is a lot longer than the rest of them. |

He really is such a Cutie Pie!! :) I got Riley neutered at exactly 6-months and he weighed in at exactly 6lbs that day. He is now around 8 - 9lbs. He'll be 2, in May. |
3 Attachment(s) It's not always size. I've seen some 6lb Silky's and 12lb Yorkie's. It's often the body shape and figure... and I've noticed something in the eyes sometimes looks different. I have tended to think Jackson might be a Silky. There's just something different about him... like even the bigger yorkies that we've met, he's just... shaped differently. He's definitely longer than tall, something about his ears. Just today we were at the dog park and there was a 10lb yorkie there that almost looked just like him - same coloring, hair type, etc, but there was just *something* different. It's hard to explain. But yours look all Yorkie to me. Here's Jackson. |
