I don't want to be evasive... so I am just going to say it. Both of my current Yorkies are Biewer's. I think of them as a the same breed with different coloring rather than a separate distinct breed. I know there are very passionate Biewer lovers that would disagree with that, including my breeder. I am open to either interpretation because my passion are these little fur babies not their pedigree. I have never bought a dog to "show" but do appreciate a great representation of the breed and I think alternative colored Yorkie/Biewer can still be just that. I was actually scared to share that information because I have done a search in this forum on Biewer vs. Yorkie and it was not pretty. I know this is a polarizing topic but I don't want to be a part of that. I just want to share my love for my dogs. I was going to just ignore the color issue but it felt wrong. I could not figure out what to call my dogs that would be politically correct on this board...so I am just putting it all out there. I tentatively posted pictures of my Lola and got nothing but kind comments. It made it easier for me to come out of the closet as a Parti/Yorkie/Biewer owner. Thank you to all that commented. Since I purchased my dogs as Biewers from a Biewer Breeder that is how I will refer to them but I really don't want to have to defend that idea and I hope that is all right. It is so nice to find a place that adores their dogs as much as I do!:Pawprint: |
welcome to yorkie talk. aww , your dogs are so sweet.... |
1 Attachment(s) I am a Biewer owner too and proud of it:) My Bogie is a rehome and I don't even have his papers, so I don't really concern myself with his pedigree, we just love him to pieces for who he is:pAttachment 363564 Our little yorkie girl is a retired breeder~rehome too. ps...your baby in your avatar is gorgeous:) |
Oscar, your dog is gorgeous! I love his coloring! Who was your breeder? |
Jada, thank you so much and your dog looks very much like mine! Beautiful and precious! |
You are very brave and should be commended, not just because you came out, but because you chose today to come out! Welcome to YT, I'm sure you will find that you belong here! |
I think Biewers are beautiful. |

The only controversy Ive ever heard of with the biewers is within the biewer community. One club believes they are a separate breed of their own and calls them biewer terriers but other breed clubs believe they are like a cousin to the yorkie and calls them biewer yorkishire terriers. But biewers unlike partis do have german breed clubs that recognize them. They are different in that way to the parti with me anyway |
I say that if you love them then what does it matter what breed they are? I love my Peke and Yorkie, they mean the world to me... |
I wasn't aware of any controversy here before, but I suppose I miss things. I think they're beautiful and I hope you post lots of pics. I'll go look for the pics you said you posted now.:) |
Excuse the dumb question but what is a Biewer and what is the controversy over them? |
|
Honestly if my little ones had come out green I would not love them less:p Your babies are beautiful. |
I would love to have a biewer or parti some day! |
I think all of you that have biewers have beautiful yorkies with a different coloring. I don't have one but I do have a yorkie. Susan |
I saw the pics of your furbabies ,they are gorgeous!! |
I love all these cuties! My personal preference is for the traditional Yorkie...but I can see why so many fall in love with the others. :) Welcome to YT! |

Welcome to YT. Your dog is lovely. I have done tons of research. I know some feel very strongly one way or the other. I don't care to make it a fighting issue at all. I respect both ideas. They are very beautiful. I would be thrilled either way. A friend had her two dogs DNA tested, the test results said, 100% Yorkshire Terrier. She bought them from a well respected Biewer breeder who only breeds Biewers. |
I have a blue/tan and a golden, but I'd take any Yorkie (or Yorkie mix) regardless of color. They are all just as cute as can be! It's about them...not their pedigree! :D |
Thx so much madyson He is a sweetie. I got him from a breeder near my home. her website is : http://peanutspals.com/ |

that thread was about partis and tinies. Biewers are different than partisl,Someone on there later on brought up biewers. Ive been on here 7 yrs and the only controversial threads Ive seen on here about biewers was arguments from different clubs not anyone saying anything derrogatory about biewers. They have their own clubs and their own standard. |
I don't know a lot about the Biewers but I did read that they developed not from an out cross but from a Yorkie that had some white markings. I believe that a genetic test would show your dogs are genetically Yorkies. I know that is not "politically correct" in the dog world but I believe in the science world it is correct. |
Welcome and gratz on the yorkie. Personally, it doesn't matter what animal you have whether it's full blooded or the half blood prince. What matters is the love your animal has for you and you for them. If you wake up in the morning and look forward to seeing your furry friend, it can be a yorkie, schmorkie, porkie, hamandcheeseorkie, did you want fries with thatorkie . . . . Enjoy! |
My Brandy is a Biewer! We love her very much. My understanding of the breed is that the color showed up while breeding two black and tan yorkies. So of course they are Yorkies. Just bred to be mostly black and white.. |
My thinking is they are one and the same dog...please dont rip me a new one...just my opinion. the only difference i see is that one has a cropped tail and the other does not. Either way they are beautiful babies...and i am looking to add one of these beauties soon. |
Wow! Your dogs are gorgeous!! |
