Ok. I'm kinda confused. (shocking, I know!) What's the difference between a Parti and a Biewer? |

Welcome to Y T> beautiful pupster's. I LOVE THEM ALL.:p |
I love all animals but honestly when I got my Biewer it was a surprise as I was told that she was a Yorkie, I was pleasantly surprised to see myself staring a Biewer in the face...it was love at first sight! Of course, I am a sucker for any dog! |
Who is the yorkie mafia everyone is so scared of? Your babies are gorgeous and you have every right to be on here and not walk on egg shells!!! Don't worry about the dog snobs :) |

To the original poster.. sorry, I haven't been on here for awhile.. but you have it exactly RIGHT! Sorry, you feel that you've had to be in the "closet" I totally understand.. but you are correct in your statements. There are those who seem to protect their turfs very vocally. You have yorkies.. the Biewers are nothing more than a LINE of yorkies that come from Germany that have a recessive gene that causes the spotting. There are LINES of yorkies here in the states that also have that gene, they were tested by the AKC and are allowed to register with the AKC, they are called Parti yorkie. I brought over my first Biewer yorkies in 2006 and started breeding with the Parti yorkies a few years ago. At my home, I have both, you can not tell one dog from the other.. They are wonderful, beautiful, lovely dogs.. just like all yorkies are. Enjoy them! -Diana :animal-pa |
While on the subject of Biewers and Yorkies, can someone tell me if this is true or not? I personally believe they are of the same breed but I've heard from many that Biewers do have a different personality from yorkies. They are more laid back where our yorkies have that terrier personality. I have even heard this is why some prefer partis over biewers. Just wondering if this is another myth or if it holds some truth. I have always admired Biewers but the personality thing had me going because I love that feisty, terrier personality. Oh and another quick question. How come Biewers have such distinct markings compared to partis? Is it just because there isn't a set standard for partis? |
Both very good questions.. the personality thing is very interesting.. my Biewers do SEEM to be a bit more layed back then my Parti's or my carriers (yorkie/Biewer or yorkie/Parti) Now.. if that is just the personality from the line carried down through the parents?? or the piebald gene having something to do with the personality.. not sure.. Others have said that their Biewers don't have a more mellow personality and are as wild and crazy as their other yorkies so.. not sure on that one. The markings are a bit more clear cut. The patterns of the original Biewers were more of a Belted/Banded or an Irish Spotting type pattern than a random spotting pattern typically seen in the AKC Parti's. Mr. Biewer bred "FOR" the Biewers.. that is .. he specifically bred TO GET the dogs.. where in this country.. people were breeding NOT to get the dogs.. when a spotted dog came up.. they were hidden or discarded. If you breed Biewers OR Parti's that have the belted/banded or Irish spotting pattern to each other.. they will most likely produce that pattern in their litters.. that pattern is a dominate pattern.. the Piebald pattern is recessive to the Irish spotting pattern.. the extreme piebald pattern (the pattern that is MOSTLY white) is even more recessive.. When breeding, you need to know and understand who you are breeding to and what pattern is in their background. To complicate matters, patterning is a matter of incomplete dominance, so just because something LOOKS like it is one thing, genetically, it could be something else. Mr. Biewer bred FOR a specific look .. he bred dogs together to create that look.. we can do the same thing with the Parti's, it just takes time and knowing who to put together to create what you want. My male Parti has a full black saddle (Irish spotting)His offspring have had the same markings. He is full AKC. -Diana:animal-pa |
