| ![]() I use plastic everything, I abhor metal cages of anything...I don't know why, just not for me. When I go to friends houses that have cages, never bothers me...but for some reason, I just can't do it for my own...

When I brought him home as a pup, he wouldn't drink or eat. I thought maybe it was just the transition, but it turned out he didn't like the plastic traveling cups. The instant I offered him water in a stainless steel dish, he started drinking.

| ![]() I like the plastic airline type crates too! I think the metal grates are way harder to keep clean than the all one piece bottom of the plastic crates. If we have to travel or camp we are always ready to go and the pups are "at home". I buy the Dr foster and smith ones, they are a little taller than others. |

| ![]() I know what you mean - seems a bit 'zoo-like' doesn't it? ![]() The reason we changed from plastic to metal, is purely because Harry managed to chew through the plastic - and ultimately the wire crate (as I so pleasantly call it!! ![]() |

I like the sturdiness of a metal crate and the ventilation and ease of cleaning thoroughly. Plastic absorbs stains & smells and I find that very off-putting.

| ![]() I used metal when Callie was a puppy because it felt like the safest to me but when I had to crate her at night recently after surgery I used a soft sided crate that folds flat for traveling and she loves it and I don't have to worry about her chewing it because shes an adult now.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | ![]() We have a metal crate and metal x pen. KS doesn't seem to mind them, but she rarely is around them now. I put up her x pen at night to keep her in one place while we sleep. She has a Potty Training Puppy Apartment crate, so she uses her crate as her bathroom. It has a potty pad on one side and a little bed on the other. But now that she is pretty much potty trained, I leave the door open so she can go in and out as she pleases. She sleeps in a nice soft, comfy big girl bed now. All of her other carriers (like for when we go out) are soft. I just had to get one for her first plane trip in March and I got a soft one too. I want her to be comfy. ![]()
