Anyone keep their Yorkie in Puppy Cut? I like the puppy cut for my Miss Mini, always have. She is stylish in her clothing though! I always laugh at the reactions of people when they want to pet my "puppy" and I tell them shes 7! Last time I was at the vet a dork asked me "is that a baby Rotty?" I laughed so hard I couldn't answer...! I am not sure about Miss Mia yet, maybe she will be the princess type! |
2 Attachment(s) I keep Jada and Bogie in a semi-puppy cut. Shaved bodies and long hair on legs, face and a topknot. I love this style, they wear clothes every day and when they have them on, it looks like they have a long flowing coat:DAttachment 363249 Attachment 363250 |

Im one of those crazy people who prefer a shave dog more then full coat. My Laci has a shaved body and fuller face , legs and tail.. Im not really one to sit and brush her out for hours.. she prefers the dog park, getting dirty and playing ball.. not to mention she does not have a great coat! |
I prefer the shorter cuts on my yorkies because they always have a clean groomed look and dont look messy also I think it gives them a puppy look thats cute |

yep! puppy cut on all 3 of them!....I use a 1 1/2 in clipper guide so it isn't really short but, short enough...I keep it a little longer around their face, a top knot and on the legs...much easier to care for and they don't get stuff stuck in their hair when they are outside. |
Chachi, would you post pics of your dogs with their cuts? I am on the fence with what to do with Prissy's hair. |
I keep Callie in a puppy cut right now she just is not the type of dog to have long hair she is extremely outside active and even with the puppy cut manages to get leaves and dirt in her hair lol. |

Good point Chachi, I'v had the same groomer for many years and we love her. I am looking forward to seeing all of the puppy cuts.. |
Omg Jada & Bogie are too cute, I think I might cut Reesie down that short b/c he has the dreaded Biewer coat which is a nightmare even when it's shorter. Love it! Viv |
I agree Jada and Bogie are too cute, I honestly thought they had long coats. |
2 Attachment(s) All of mine have puppy cuts for spring and summer and then I let it grow in the fall and winter but I am starting to rethink this as I am thinking with shorter hair in the winter maybe we would have less snow balls to deal with lol. Just a pic to show ya what I mean . |
4 Attachment(s) I keep Riot in mostly a puppy cut. The first two pictures are just after a hair cut and the second two are after it's grown out a bit |
Zoey wears a short puppy cut. Lucy and Cozy wear middle length puppy cuts. Roxy gets a puppy cut for coat and sweater season and then grows her hair long. |

Bailey stays in a puppy cut all year! The clothes keep her warm... I think that puppy cuts are just easier to handle. You don't have to worry about putting up their long hair if they want to have clothes on, and I feel like puppy cuts look more cleaned up and stylish! Bailey can only deal with the hair in a bow, anymore and she might kill me.:) |

Scooter always has a puppy cut. It's too hot here in Florida for all that fur plus he plays outside a lot and gets good and dirty. :animal37 |

IMHO it's just a personal choice. They are so cute it really doesn't matter. I like Ruger's hair a little longer, but sometimes the groomer overdoes it a bit. Also, there is something between long and a puppy cut where he looks good but is easy to brush -- and he likes to be brushed. Again, IMHO, smaller Yorkies look better with puppy cuts. Ruger is about 12lbs so he looks a little funky with really short hair -- but still cute. :D |
1 Attachment(s) It's a lifestyle decision :D At least on our part. For us, short hair just works better. Chewie has thick, fluffy, easily-matted hair, and he's all boy--plays hard and doesn't like to sit still to get brushed! In the summertime I clip him really short (not quite shaved, but almost), and when it's colder, I let him get a little bit longer, but not so long that we have to brush out tons of tangles every day. Plus, I just like the way he looks with it short :) This is after his most recent cut. |
I keep Louie in mostly a puppy cut, a little longer face, not shaved legs but a little longer also. The body is short. It is just easier and he looks cute:) |
my zowi had a full coat that was never cut (except in hygenic areas) until she was 9 years old. then i decided to cut it all off to make her more comfortable. (i have them leave some hair on her ears and face.) she was panting a lot and it seemed like she was sick of all the upkeep as her coat is cottony, easily tangles, and requires a lot of work to keep it neat looking. she all of a sudden hated getting her legs brushed. she looks adorable and is more comfortable with the cut. i have her cut down at least twice a year. my pixie has a silky thin coat that is just incredibly easy to keep up with, so we keep her coat long. her hair never tangles and she doesn't mind a comb out every day. i love both looks, and for me i get the best of both worlds!!! |
Do you shave them yourself or have the groomer do it?? Can you explain how you tell them to cut it if you take them to a groomer please? I want the right description, I'm even going to take your pic with me to show. Can't wait!! Grrrrr that Biewer coat!!!!! :) Viv |
