OP I feel your pain and have found some dogs just don't seem to care if you spray or shake stuff at them or some of the other ideas people have, it's all trial and error. The problem with some of the methods is you have to be next to the dog to make it effective. I work from home and I would be in my office upstairs, on the phone and he would be on the landing looking out and bark and run down the stairs ready to attack, or I would be cooking with my hands a mess and he would see something and then start, then he would see me coming and take off running somewhere. I normally had to shut us in my office so I could work on the phone. I did something radical once to cure my first yorkie from non stop barking. It was 25 years ago, and I will preface this with if you want to jump on me go ahead cause LOL I don't give a chit :p My vet told me there was an operation for debarking, so I had it done when he was having another procedure, the vet took a few biopsy type hole punches in his vocal cords which reduced the bark to a very low raspy sound. For a few days I could tell it hurt him and I felt bad, but after several days he was back to his old but much more quite self. I don't think I would ever have this done again, unless I was forced into some type of situation where I had to live in a condo or apartment and it was that or give up a barking dog. |

really mad... WELLLLL I guess you all will be really mad at me , but.... I had the debarking surgery done to my stud dog(I no longer breed) because he barked constantly when the females were in heat. Nothing worked so I had the surgery done he still barked but a softer tone. what works for 1 dog does not work for all. |

Has anyone ever tried "Training" their dog?? Seriously. to the people who use lemon/water to squirt at their dog- Why don’t you squirt it in your eye and see how you like it?? Then maybe after you know what it feels like- maybe you will use regular water or maybe just maybe you will train your dog. |

I really don't care what else is said after this point because PEOPLE life is full of suprise and sometime you just have to go with it. If you think I was wrong sue me my Name is Rosalind Nieves from NY.. My Brandy is just fine.. so take it how ever you want. An opinion was ask not an answer.. so what ever you do is what you do all I know is my pup is happy and so am I. And for people who has never had anything bad happen to them by accident I want to shake your hand because the lord had saved you for hurt and pain so like my sister says TALK TO THE HAND IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT OR ME>>let all just have a wonderful rest of the day. |
There is a citronella collar that sprays citronella on the dog and Im sure it could maybe get in the eyes too so its not unheard of for me to hear someone using lemon. Its probably not the best to do because of what can happen but Im not judging for trying it. Honestly I have heard of much much much worse on here like someone spraying bitter apple in the face. |
