Gizmo DNA results are in Drum roll please..................... Breaking News Gizmo IS NOT a Yorkie..... :(:( According to Wisdom DNA kit he is Chinese Crested Mix crossed with Rat Terrier. Who would believe it!!!!! LOL The next 5 highest breeds are as follows: Chihuahua. 17.79% Miniature Schnauzer 8.71% Akita. 3.23% Border Terrier. 2.69% Dachshund 1.99% QUESTION---Now that we know for sure Gizmo is not a Yorkie can I still stay on YT???????? Please!!!!! |
I'm not one to turn a dog (and cute one at that)lover away. |
OH, he is adorable even if he is not yorkie... please stay with us... hugs |
I will keep you secret safe!! hehe. |
Of course you can stay, we would miss him. |
He still has terrier in him! LOL. |
of course you can stay lots of us have other dogs that are not yorkies |
Now that you say that, he does look like a blend of those two breeds. He's as cute as a button! I think there are lots of people on this site with small breed pups that aren't YTs. |
Absolutely! Sometimes I think Baby is a Silky! I'm still here! I don't know your story, but where did you get your baby? And how did you get a DNA test done? |
I have 3 Yorkie_Poos, one Silky and one Yorkie and I am staying. lol |

Of course you can stay :D We are all dog lovers. |
That is so interesting and of course, stay! |
Of course!! Just know those DNA tests are not always accurate. I've seen some huge dogs come back with crazy things like Chihuahua when clearly the dog is like a Husky lol. Like honestly, an Akita?? I will say I could definitely see all of the other breeds though! So it's not always accurate as far as I know. But I have always wanted to do one with Jackson because I tend to think he's a Silky Terrier. |

I had seen dog DNA kits on the Internet and then our neighbor said they did their dog and what interesting results they got. So I ordered the DNA test from Amazon. I got Wisdom mixed breed kit and made sure it had Yorkie, Silky terriers and Chihuahua so they could check for those. Boy was I surprised. I guess I can quit worrying about what kind of coat he has and when it is going to go long and change colors. Hehehehehe |
Absolutely he can stay I vote f he was in a herd of Yorkie's he'd confuse them too so he's good! What test did you use? |

His coat color will change pretty quick while he's digging holes in your yard. hahahaha |
The most accurate DNA tests are the blood tests from what I have understood are the Wisdom Panel. My vet told me that the swabs are not accurate at all. I had a DNA test done on my Cookie and she came up Yorkie and Border Terrier. I am quite sure that was accurate. I always knew she was a mix, but she had a wiry coat and I just knew something else was there...border terrier makes perfect sense. I have seen people get some very strange results from the swabs.... |

I knew Cookie was a mix and my curiosity just got the best of me..I had to know! As soon as I saw it, it clicked.....I had no doubt about the accuracy. |

I used the swabs but now I am thinking I should have used the blood test but there is no way I am drawing blood. :(. We brought the Wisdom DNA test for mixed breeds from Amazone. It cost approx. $80.00 plus change but that included taxes and shipping. |

I used a lesser brand (my vet did a cheek swab) to DNA my Schnorkie who was determined to be 60 some % miniature schnauzer and 40 some % Yorkie. Wait I mean the other way around which is weird because he looks like a Fraggle and is 21 pounds so I expected it vice versa... I would like to do the more specific test in the future that will identify the breed of his parents and grandparents and see how that works. If I were rich I'd LOVE to buy one of each test on the market and see what they all say, would it all be the same results-I've a curious mind like that, but not the wallet thick enough to satisfy the mind :D P.S. (edit) the Pro version that takes the blood notes it is to be administered by your vet and they recommend just having it done during your annual visit it only requires a drop added that can be taken from the annual blood work sample so your dog only gets blood drawn once. |

I'm with you...I'd love to play with some of those tests...I'd be interested to see if they could determine even part of the parentage since mine aren't registered. It's not that I care...I love them not their pedigree...! :p I just think it would so interesting and so much fun ! :D |
GIzmo is himself a lover and a keeper LOL ! we love him all thr same too cute |
No matter what he is ...he is the perfect dog for us. We love him.....thank you for all the kind words about Gizmo. I am hooked to YT so iam sure I will keep coming.... My DH swears he still looks like a Yorkie so it will be interesting what he finally looks like. I swear his coat is changing from wiry to soft...or course now that I think about it ...it is not as thick...OOPS hairless is coming to mind.YIKES!!!!!!! LOL |
1 Attachment(s) I found this picture on the internet. The Chinese Crested powder puff on the left looks just like Gizmo even down to the colors. |
