Oh wow I'm sorry you fell and I hope it starts feeling better soon. I don't really have any ideas about playing but with treats I have taught Callie to either catch them or go chase them. |
I am sorry about your injury, that sound very uncomfortable. Can you lay on your bed and have your husband boost them up for you? I was thinking cat toys, like the toy on a string with a stick, or a laser pointer. Maybe the tennis ball throwing thing I see people with at the dog park. Feel better soon. Maybe try acupuncture of a good chiropractor to help you get better. The dogs will survive and they have each other, you worry about you first. Animals know when their people are not well. You may just have to cuddle them in bed and they will love that. |
You might consider trying one of the exercise/fitness balls. That way you can adjust how you're sitting by leaning forward a bit balancing on the ball. This should help you reach your pups to be able to play with them. I also fractured my tailbone and it was a miserable experience. I found balancing on the ball leaning forward with my knees apart and my hands braced on my knees was the most comfortable for me. Good luck! |
2 Attachment(s) Hi, The Cloud 9 bed that I ordered came today. The furkids adore it...and won't share it, so I'm ordering another one this week. It is doing a great job of keeping them occupied. They spend their time shoving the other one off of it. I hope it keeps occupying them long enough for me to heal up. I'm able to throw the ball and other toys for them while laying sideways and my husband hands it back to me. THANK YOU for the suggestion about the pillow between my legs..that helps a LOT. I came here asking for doggy help and got help for me too. :') Why they said it could take a year I have no idea. They didn't say it would..they said it could. I also have troch-bursitis in my hips (had that before) and that could be a reason...I didn't even ask. In any case...thanks for all the suggestions! I'll try all of them. :'') I just love this community. Sorry for not putting this in off topic. going back to the couch now. Thanks a million YTers |

I hope you feel better soon! Until then tossing them treats is fun-they will love it. Getting a long rope for tug a war while standing. Putting them on a high counter or table to get some good rubs and kisses while you are standing. Wish I had more suggestions for u! |
Ohhhh, and OUCH!! I did that very same thing a few years ago.... So, I know how painful it is! It does take a long time to heal...but the pain isn't constant for that long. You are in the worst part right now. From my memory the first week was the worst- then you just have to be careful how and what you sit on. That's what takes the longest to recover from....you will sit down and if the chair hits you funny it hurts. I am sorry I can't give you a magic quick fix! Just take it easy and let your body heal. |

So glad your pups love it. |

Sorry OP. I don't have any ideas for you. Feel better! I know what that's like. |
Hi, I use a wheelchair for mobility due to injuries I received from a motor vehicle accident when I was 20. So I don't have the option of getting on the floor unassisted with my puppy and that's hard but I've found ways around it. I can lean over and pick him up, his toys, give him treats etc. Since it's painful for you to bend over a cheap toy would be to braid some fleece fabric into a long enough rope and just tie the ends off. Although I can train Charlie by leaning over in my chair, I prefer in the beginning stages to place him on the couch in front of me so we are at the same level. I also sit on my chaise lounge or bed and play with him too. Laying on stomach would work fine too just to have that closeness. And it's easy to lift him from floor onto bed etc from laying position too. I know how hard it is not to be able to get down and wrestle with them though. I'm totally independent...do everything for him, play, bathe, walk him, drive him all over...you name it but it hurts when I see how much fun he has with others on the floor knowing that I can't do that with him on my own. |
I have broken mine twice. No fun. |

To the OP: So sorry you fell! I know it hurts like h*ll, and I didn't even crack mine. Get a donut pillow to sit on to take pressure off the spine and ice it too. Feel better! |
Oh my! Bless your heart! I have no experience with that kind of thing, but I did want to say that I hope you get to feeling better. I will be praying for you. My heart goes out to you!!! |
