Yorkie Dead & Lab Sick After Consuming Canyon Creek Ranch Brand "Chicken Jerky" Hi. I came here to share my story. I'm really trying to spread the word about the jerky treats distributed by Canyon Creek Ranch Brand, a company owned by Waggin' Train, LLC. Short story, a few days after giving my Yorkie and Labrador less than 1 treat daily for about a week, my Labrador had severe diarrhea. He was treated for that. At that time, my Yorkie "seemed" fine. A few days after that, my Yorkie wasn't looking so great so he was taken into the vet. I was told he was suffering from acute kidney failure. Less than a week later, he died. You can read my full story on a short blog I created. Canyon Creek Ranch Brand | Kidney Failure | Death There are hundreds of similar stories directly on the Waggin' Train, LLC. Facebook fan page. https://www.facebook.com/waggintrain?sk=wall There are plenty of other horror stories left as product reviews on Amazon.com. Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Waggin Train Chicken Jerky Tenders 40oz Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Waggin Train Chicken Jerky Tenders Dog Treats - 48oz. Bag I called up Waggin' Train, LLC. and they offered me money for my medical bills, which I refused because I will not sign a NDA. I called up PetSmart "corporate" and they are going to escalate the issue and said I should receive a response within 5 business days. I submitted a claim with the FDA over the weekend and done whatever else I possibly can as an individual. I am now off to purchase a casket for my Yorkie. Please educate yourself on this ongoing issue, it is not a joke. Many of you might already be aware of this tainted chicken jerky from China, I was not. One would assume that PetSmart would post these FDA advisories in their store(s), but they don't. At least not at the 4 Long Island locations I visited over the weekend. Thanks for reading and please share this story with others. |
i am very sorry for your loss. i have only been purchasing things made in the usa. nothing absolutely nothing from china. thank you for sharing this and again very sorry for your loss. |
It is sad and I have bought them before because they say made in USA on them and someone on here told me to look at the small print that they are made in China. That is deceptive advertising and I feel everyone should be warned about this brand. Im sorry you lost your yorkie but thanks for sharing your story and getting the word out about this |
I'm sorry for your loss and it's wonderful that you are spreading the word... |
I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I had no idea about this, and reading all the stories on facebook is just heart breaking. :( |
I am very sorry for your loss and I will send prayers for your lab. Thank you for coming here to warn others. I hope you will visit Yorkie Talk again. You are always welcome here. |
These are very tragic stories that continually play out all over the country over feeding commercial kibble and treats to pets. It's heartbreaking, and it's time to start putting the word out about feeding real food. Invest in a dehydrator so you can make your own beef and chicken jerky, and lots of veggie and fruit treats. There are thousands of free recipes for making pet food and treats. |
Darn it! I've bought those treats for my dogs thinking they were made in the USA! Now I see on the package, "Made in China!" Ugh! I'm so sorry for your loss of your sweet Benny. Thanks so much for the warning! |
That's terrible, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've seen these treats on the shelf at Costco and Whole Foods. My dh tried to put some in the cart at Costco, and I put them back and told him that they had killed many dogs. I refuse to buy any food made in China. You have to look closely, even things you wouldn't expect are made there. Mott's apple juice, for instance. |
OMGosh! :( I am so sorry this has happened to you and Benny and your Lab. This is unforgivable. The deception is tragically and fatally rampant. I am so sorry! |
I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved yorkie. How very courageous of you to fight for what's right despite the grief you must be feeling. Thank you for the warning. |
I am so sorry for your loss. Benny was beautiful and it's heartbreaking that dogs are loosing their lives from these treats. Thank you for sharing your story and I hope it helps save others' lives. RIP Benny. |
Thanks for pointing this out. I won't stop at "made in the USA" now. That should be illegal. Quote:

I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you are going through. Thank you for the warning |
I am so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you. I won't give my dogs any kinds of treats except for Old Mother Hubbard dog bones. |
I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Benny and the sickness your poor lab has suffered as well. Thank you for making us aware of the dangers of these treats. I hope you are able to change the policy of these store owners who sell contaminated treats to an unsuspecting public without posting warnings about possible contamination issues. |

This is very heart breaking. I\'m glad that there are those who are taking a stand. I\'m very, very sorry for the loss of your baby. Prayers for the healing fo your lab and for the healing of your hearts. |
I\'m so sorry for your loss:( |
Sorry for your loss....I think it\'s time for me to start buying at my local dog treat bakery.... |
I usually feed cheerios, raw baby carrots, raw sweet potatoes slices and raw sliced apples as treats. I am so sorry for your loss. This is truly sad. |
so very sorry for the loss of your precious dog, thank you for taking the time to post here. I posted on another thread about the frustration I had at Pet Supplies Plus recently. I stood for over 45min. going through the various "natural type of jerky treats and could not find one brand or package that was made in the states, I asked the clerk who was dumber than a rock and clueless about this issue, I finally left disgusted. I suggest that we start with the top of these changes and send them email after email, or jam their phone lines telling them to buy american made treats. What is really bad though is that the treat manufacturers might make the treats in the USA but buy raw ingredients from out of the country, or their suppliers buy ingredients from outside the country. It\'s a trickle down deal that is easy to hide. There might be some law that now requires you to state that some ingredients are from China or where ever, but i am not sure, does anyone know that. |
I so sorry you have lost your yorkie and your lab has been sick. |
I am so very sorry for your loss. Ever sense there has been a problem with chicken jerky we make our own and wont buy any treats from China. |
Wow, I was just looking at those at Target today. Glad I didn\'t get them!! So sorry for your loss. |
I am sorry for you loss. I read some of the Facebook comments, why in the world are these things still on the shelves? |
So very sorry for your loss. Praying for your lab. Thank you for sharing your story and spreading the word about these products, |
So sorry for your loss. I buy only Kona chicken treats. They are made in the USA and are a little pricy but my gang just loves them. |
I am so sorry about your loss. |
There is so much information left off our pet food labels. Who even knew until a few years ago that pet food companies imported "fillers" from China and were putting them in our pet food? It seems everything we buy anymore is from China in one form or another. It\'s time everyone in this country gets together and says enough is enough! Bring back industry and business to the USA! Stop selling our country to China! |
