First grooming and nails
 
When did you first get your puppy groomed? Charlie will be 17 weeks Monday and hasn't yet. I like his puffy/wavy hair and think that once his ears are trimmed they won't be floppy anymore. Floppy is cute! His belly is getting wet though...ick.

He will be getting his nails cut Tuesday. They are sharp and I can hear them when he walks. The vet was going to charge $15 for that. May see what groomers charge first. :animal-pa

I'm sure his nails definitely need trimming. You don't want to let them go too long, because the quick grows out further unless they are trimmed frequently. You can use a small and narrow shaver to trim the hair off the upper third of his ears and trim the hair along the ear line with scissors. That would take some weight off his ears. Of course, if you are not comfortable with that, then I'm sure a groomer will help you with that. You will also want to trim the hair on the bottom of his feet that grows around the foot pads. His little hiney will need to be trimmed as well to avoid dingleberries.:p

Gracie didn't go to the groomer until she was almost 6 months old. Some dogs should go sooner just to get them accustomed to being at a strange place having strange people handle them. Maybe just a little trim at first.

I did Gracie's face and feet myself for the first few months and I still do a lot of her grooming. When she needs her body and lower face length evened out I take her to the groomer because I'm not good at that.

We waited until Katie Scarlett had all of her shots before taking her to the groomers for the first time.
