Prayers needed for my stupidity!!!
 

I dropped one of my pills like an IDIOT and I'm flipping out. Bella had JUST woken up and I quickly got my pills out to take them because she gets cranky if I don't pay attention to her when she's awake. I KNOW the pets do NOT have it and they did NOT eat it because I snatched them all up and locked them in the bedroom the second I dropped it. I heard it fall, but cannot find it.

hubby is dragging out the furniture and moving the fridge and stove looking for it as I type this and he can't find it either.

just the other day I was talking to my breeder about this VERY same thing and then I go and DO IT!?!? Knock on wood she was right...things happen.

My husband basically ordered me out of the kitchen since I'm doing no good flipping out and crying so here I am....

asking for prayers please...that one of us HUMANS finds my pill so I can let the furkids out. I refuse to let them anywhere NEAR the kitchen until it's been found and I KNOW I dropped it...I heard it drop.

I'm going to (try) to go into the kitchen now and try...to calmly help him look for it.

Might sound like a stupid prayer request..but please just pray that we find that blasted pill.

Been there, done that.... well DH has anyway... which makes me the pill finder... use a flashlight... Prayers headed your way!

Well, depending on what it was it may not be as bad as you think. I'm just not gonna come out and ask what it was!

The pill has been found. It had dropped on the floor, rolled under the door to the storage room and landed on the storage room floor. dunno how he thought to look in there.

It was Baclofen that fell...but it has been found now, thank God. Scared the pee out of me.

And...my meds are kicking in as I type this so off I go.

and tomorrow...I'm going to let her be cranky while I take my pills slowly and carefully instead of rushing myself and letting an accident caused by stupidity...happen again.

It really irritates me when I see posts about how people did this or didn't do that and the pet died and I'm thinking....duhhhh, what were you thinking??? Geez! Now I'm saying that to myself. :(

glad that you found the pill. Don't beat yourself up too badly, stuff happens, just glad it all worked out. I read where someone suggested to take your pills over the sink so if one should fall, it falls into the sink.

Don't beat yourself up about it! Accidents happen to everyone. I believe it's how you handle things when they do that counts and from the point that pill dropped, you did everything you could to protect your furbabies. Awesome quick response to the situation! I think you handled it wonderfully :)

That was quick thinking to get them out of the kitchen and i bet this helps someone in the future to do what you did

DH dropped one of his and he said put Prissy up, I dropped a pill. We wouldn't let her out until we found that blasted pill. Things happen and we just need to be careful, but remember sometimes it is just an accident and not meant to hurt our furkids.

I'm going to have to open them over the sink too...I didn't even think of that, so thank you muchly! I'd rather the sink get them any day over my widdle pets.

Thanks for the support all. I still feel like an idiot, but if nothing else, I'll be a LOT more careful in the future.

No reason to feel like an idiot...it happens and I'm sure to more people than you think. You kept your pups safe and that's all that matters ... and the pill was found!

I take mine over the sink for the same reason....in the drain is better than in the pup!

I dropped one of mine once and nearly went out of my mind looking. I heard it drop but couldn't find it anywhere. That prescription had just been renewed so I took them out and counted them. Luckily, it has dropped right back in the bottle. Thank heavens you found it.

We use a drawer for pills system here, after reading about the idea on YT, I think. I'm fortunate and rarely have to take anything but dh takes Aleve a few times a week. Since getting Ruby, him dropping a pill has always been one of my fears. Now we store all pill bottles in a kitchen drawer. Dh leaves the drawer open as he pours out the pill and takes it over the drawer. Kind of like the kitchen sink idea.....any system to keep those pills off the floor!

So glad you found the pill! I've done this before myself. I have a son on allergy meds daily. Over the sink's a great idea!

I had my scare for the day! I was giving Ziggy his meds this morning in a piece of chicken. Ziggy took it and spit some of it out on the floor and Bear grabbed it!

I'm so glad the pill was found. Yes this is very scary to have happen.

I lost one of my babies that way. My MIL dropped one of her pills and my beautiful Shayleigh got hold of it.
It was too late by the time I figured out what happened, the damage had been done and no amount of medical helped we tried for 2 weeks worked. Her brain was damaged.
She was only 2 1/2 yrs. old. This was back in 2003.
I still to this day can't stop thinking about it.

So glad you found it. I've also dropped one and had to scramble to get it before the dogs. I had company once that gives their (larger) dogs ACE (wrapped in cheese) for traveling. Well, she wasn't sure when she gave it to one of the dogs that the dog actually swolled it. Sure enough, about an hour after they left, Mylee was walking like a drunk and pretty darn sleepy, so I know who got that one. Good think you were on top of it.

It is ok. No prayers for help are dumb. God knows the number of hair on our head I am sure he knows where the pill is too.

Glad the pill was found. Hubby and I both take our pills over the kitchen sink, someone on a Lab Talk site years ago suggested it, on a list of keeping pups safe.
My Mom is blind and we put her pills on a paper towel, in an up side down frizbee, she can count how many she takes. This works better than, putting them in her hand.

So glad that you found the pill! I take my pills over the bathroom counter with the handtowel laid out on the counter. If one is dropped,it wont bounce. Sounds silly but I have to many kids and to many dogs that could get ahold of a dropped pill and this is my way of avoiding the moment. I learned this they hard way by dropping a pill and spending 2hrs of my life looking for it,was late to an apointment and had a crazy moment in the process.

How scary, so glad you found it. I'm another one that votes for the sink, I have never had one bounce out.

So sorry you had a scare this morning. I freak out whenever my grandpa drops a pill because he wont do his pills over the table or counter and sometimes it doesn't seem like he knows how serious it can be. Callie doesn't just run up and grab things off the floor anymore and listens when I tell her no but it still scares the crap outa me. I set my pill box on the table and take one pill out at a time and take it.

Roxi, my daughter and I live with my elderly mother. Twice now my mother has dropped a pill. The first time I was home and was able to pry it out of Roxi's mouth.

The 2nd time just happened last week. I got home from work and found a pill laying on the kitchen floor. It looked like it had been chewed on and then spit out...obviously it tasted horrible.

I can't get my mother to understand that she has to be more careful. She's always been that way. When my daughter was a baby I was always worried about my mother dropping her pills. God has looked out for us so far.

I'm so very sorry for your loss of Shay, Vicki. I'm sure that was heartwrenching, and it is exactly what I was so fearful of last night. Bless Shay's little heart, and may she rest in peace and serenity.

I reread my post and I sounded like a blubbering buffoon, but I was scared out of my mind. I've since moved all of the pills to the bathroom medicine cabinet (where they should be anyway) instead of the kitchen. I go in the bathroom and shut the door plus take them over the sink now. I should have thought to do this before, you'd think it is a bit of "well, duh!!"...but for me it wasn't.

What I find SO weird is that I was at Shakespeare's breeder's home the other day (checking out the puppies and preparing to get one) when we had a discussion about dropping pills. She's the one that brought it up, actually. I was thinking in my head.. "Well I'M never gonna do that, I'M careful!!" ........... talk about a humbling moment. :rolleyes:

So happy you found the pill. I worry about things like this all the time. I had all my meds in the kitchen before I got my Yorkies. I moved every med prescription or OTC drugs to my bathroom. I never take meds around them and I forbid my husband to bring any meds in the kitchen. Accidents can happen so quick and my 4 will jump on a crumb if it drops in the floor.

So glad you found your pill. I too take mine over the sink and even then have dropped one. Yelling for help and getting the dogs out of the room is the first priority. So glad everything went well for you today.
