Frustrating Episode At Petsmart today!!!!
 

I'm a bit frustrated to say the least! Let me tell you what happened to me today in PetSmart. Katie Scarlett needed her daily walk but with all the snow on the ground and the strong winds it is freezing here. She shivers at the slightest breeze so I thought I would drive to PetSmart and walk around in there for a bit to let her get some exercise, socialize, and pick up a few things. She loves it there. She knows when our car turns into the shopping center it is in and she goes nuts. I always let her walk outside in the grass for a minute so she can do her business and then we walk in. So far we have had nothing but good experiences. All the employees know us and love her to pieces. And most of the time, every single person we encounter either grins, says 'ooh' or 'how cute', or wants to pet/talk to us...which we love. We love to get chatty and meet other dogs/dog owners.

Well today this man with a Rottie came up to me. He said hello and asked me if 'he' was a Yorkie. Well first of all I said, that 'she' is a Yorkie. I wanted to say...well hello! Can you not tell that she is a 'she?'!!! She had a dress, bow, pink harness, and pink leash, but I did not. Then you want to know what he said??!!!!

I quote....

"I feel so sorry for pets like yours. She is being mistreated being made up like that and someone should report you to the animal cruelty officers. She is a dang (but he didn't say 'dang') dog, not your child, and you should be ashamed of treating her like you do! I wish people like you would be declared unfit to own any pet!"

OMG! I was floored! I mean, it came out of nowhere. No hello, no conversation, just direct accusation! I was so stunned I could not say anything. He immediately turned around and marched out the door at that point. I just stood there for a good few minutes just with my jaw dropped. Then this nice girl who worked there came over and told me not to worry. Apparently this same guy comes in all the time harassing small dog owners. They have had to ask him to leave several times. They think he sits in the parking lot watching people go in. Can you believe that?!

I am still just in amazement at the whole situation! I mean, it did not hurt my feelings. I thought....'what an idiot!' If he only knew how much I pamper and love on my dog! You guys know I do! The nerve of some people just makes me want to smack 'em on the head! LOL

Had to get that off my chest tonite! Thanks for listening!

Truly an rude, angry, idiot. It is really sad that he has so much hatred and that he sits and waits to attack small dog owners and spew his hurtfulness.

Good lord!! What is wrong with people!! I guess I would have been livid. All I can say is he was a complete IDIOT!!!

Well, he is an idiot. My pups get all dolled up all the time. And I promise you they are treated way better than some humans are. :eek: Sorry but that is the truth. They are way cleaner than some too. :p:p I know you love KS like I do my girls. So, I know she is treated the same way. What a jerk he was to come up to you and say those things. Maybe he needs a good smack on his head!! :D

holy moron!! ur the best momma to KS and she wouldnt wear clothes if she didnt want too. thankfully he did not hurt ur feelings.

What a jerk. He must be feeling very small to prey on people they way that he does. I know your little KS is pampered and loved - anyone would have to be blind to not see that.

Wow how rude! Anyone with a brain can see u love ur yorkie so much!

I know, right?!!! And I can't tell you how many people have said to me 'When I die, I want to come back as one of your dogs!' LOL. Everyone knows how loved on KS is, not only by me, but my whole family. I just want to go back and find that man and kick him in the rear. You can bet if I encounter him at PetSmart again I will be doing a 180 and walking in the other direction. If I didn't I might say what is really on my mind and then they would be kicking me out of the store after I gave him a good what for. ;)

Truly rude. I have been acused of treating Kirby like a person too. Honestly I love Kirby better than a lot of people. She never talks back and she is always willing to please and cheer me up. She knows when I am in a bad mood and she knows to just leave me alone . My human family can't seem to pick up on it. They will demand and nag no matter what. She listens better than my human kids. Dont pay attention to that hater. I like all types of dogs. I prefer small breeds for my own personal reason but I would never down someone because they love large dogs. Petsmart should address things better with this person.

I am with Jada, I would have prolly went off on him. Some people amaze me....if they can't say something nice, then don't say it at all. I think he was just jealous because Katie Scarlett is so darn gorgeous! :D

What a complete tool he is!!! I wish your husband would have been there!! I think you should carry some mace with you....and if you ever run into him again then whip it out and tell him to back off or else! :D (Don't really use the mace of course, but to whip it out and threaten him with it would be pretty funny!)

Peyton is pretty mad! He wants to take this guy on and defend Katie Scarlett's honor! But, only if the guy doesn't have his rotty with him! He's brave...not stupid! ;)

Tee hee! You guys are crackin' me up! Thank you for coming to my baby's defense! Katie Scarlett appreciates all of her Yorkie buddies and so does Mommy! ;)

I agree with the member who called this man a tool. That is absolutely horrible what he said to you. I can't believe (well...yes I can) that perfect strangers can just walk up to another human being and verbally abuse them like that - shameful.

Fact is, YOU know better, WE know better, and that man knows better. It sounds to me like he is purposely trying to instigate an argument.

You ran into one of those "real men" who think the size of the dog reflects the size of their...

I've run into a few of those types during our walks on a local trail. They can always be counted on to make comments like,"Lemme guess, it's name's Rocky!" or "that's not a dog, that's a rat!" They might be entertaining if they weren't so boringly predictable :rolleyes:

I'm sorry you and Katie Scarlett were subjected to that man's vileness.

I'm sure he'd also consider the $120 I just spent on rehab and massage for my dog (who has his own room, has better insurance coverage than me, has more toys than most kids in the neighborhood, and a better trainer than half my university professors) to prevent knee pain to also be abusive... might as well lock me up, cause I'm definitely an unfit dog mom. :D

Honestly if I were you I'd give 'em a piece of my mind if I ever see him again, if they've kicked him out of the store before I'm sure they'd applaud you for doing their job for them... but I may be speaking in rage not sanity ;)

KS is spoiled and well loved...

I dress ALL of mine and Petsmart is a chance to wear the prettiest bows and matching clothes and for them to strut their stuff!

Some people simply despise little dogs. Their loss! :)

OMG! The nerve of this....he's not even a man, having the guts to walk up to a woman and say the things he said! It just shows his ignorance for sure. I probably would have chewed right into him! I bet you were in shock. He needs to have the police called on him for harassing customers if they spot him in the parking lot waiting for his next victim. I'm glad you didn't take it personally. You are the best mommy KS could ever have!

Geez, Louise! They harvest a new crop of numb skulls every day, huh? Sounds like he's little more than a walking, talking mannequin...clothes hanging on him but nothing worth listening to coming out the mouth. I feel sorry for the Rottie...who's probably smarter. I wonder if the Rottie was embarrassed to be seen with that man... :p

Well, that was unnecessary and uncalled for. How someone reaches adulthood with such an appalling lack of manners is totally beyond me. I do hope he treats his dog better than he treats other people...

Sorry that you had to endure his rude behavior, I know you love your Katie Scarlett just as I love my Prissy, they are our world. Some people just don't know what happiness that Yorkies bring into our lives.
