I would say get her chipped. Coco isnt chipped, but thats just because of the plain reason that we didnt know much about things like that when we got her. But if you have any opprotunity to do so, i would do it. Its just an added layer of protection(; just incase god forbid she doesn't have her tag on or something, she'll be returned to you(: |
Yes to the microchip! We got Cody microchipped on his first vet visit at 13 weeks. Just to be clear, while a lot of folks choose to wait until their dog is under, that's not a requirement. It's about a 2 second procedure and it's not that big of a deal. Animals can be chipped at any time and any age (well, okay, don't know about those wee ones under 8 weeks... but that's it!). Which is convenient, because they can get lost at any time or any age as well. ;) Both of my cats (who never get out of the house) are chipped as well. If there's a way to take an extra precaution to keep your baby safe in emergencies, it's worth it. 100%. |
Buddy is the only 1 microchipped. He is an escape artist who loves to run away and go to strangers to say hello. He opens the back door unless it is locked. The same with house windows and car doors. He removed his tie out by digging it up from the ground. My yorkies don't run away, wander, or escape. I walk them on harnesses and they wear collars with IDs on them. If they were stolen or lost I doubt someone would return them. It does also say on their collars- "I am spayed". My girls will not approach strangers. |
Gracie was a little on the small side so I waited until she was a year old to get her spayed. I liked the idea of microchipping her but I was concerned about doing it. She was still quite small at a year old and didn't have an ounce of extra fat on her. I decided to go ahead and have it done. I could feel the chip under her skin for the first 3 months but now I can't find it when I try searching for it. It's there and in place. She did put on a few more ounces of weight. I'm really glad I had it done. She also wears her ID tags. There is always the "other side" of any issue but I have seen way more positive reasons for having it done then any negative information. |

Louie is chipped because he came from Columbia Second Chance, and they chip all of the dogs they adopt out. I would have done it anyway, though. I also think the ID tags are important because if he gets away from me, I think non-dog owners would just not know anything about a microchip. This way, they have my phone number and I can get my baby back quickly :) |

Levi is microchipped! :) It definitely gives me more peace of mind. He was microchipped by his rescue before I ever brought him home, but I would have opted to have it done anyway. |
I beleive every dog should be and wanted to let people know nationwide Humane society shelters offer micro-chipping to owners at a discounted rate. It's a great way to protect your baby and support a worthy cause-especially if so some strange reason your vet doesn't offer the service. Many local city/county shelters also offer this service in efforts to bring in funds and protect pets. |
We had Katie Scarlett microchipped when she was in for her spay last week. It really gives us peace of mind too! |
Mine are all microchipped and always wear tags too. I want to make sure that if they are found they will come back to me! |
They didn't microchip her yesterday, but said that I could bring her in anytime and they would numb the area and insert the chip. UGH! |
