Thanks. I may have to try that. Do you just put the gel on your finger and rub it on their teeth? |
I so appreciate all of the responses, Yoshi has never liked his teeth Brushed and Prissy is a little terrier for sure but really working with her. |
Jackson was a toothbrush hater for a long time. It was such a struggle that I had basically given up and managed only to brush his teeth when he'd get in the bath tub every week or two. He had to have a dental in November due to another tooth issue (over-bite, had a vital pulpotomy on his canine tooth) so got them cleaned while under. They weren't terrible but did have some tarter build-up on all of his canine teeth. Anyways now they are shiny and white and perfect and I plan on keeping them that way and hopefully not needing for a long time/never needing another dental (at least that's my goal). So anyways, after the procedure on his mouth, we weren't allowed to brush for two weeks so I took advantage and every night for those 2 weeks, we would go into the bathroom. First couple of days, he'd just go in there and get a treat. Then I brought out the brush, introduced him to it, let him sniff, etc. Eventually he had started opening his mouth when he saw it. I would lift up his lip, get him used to me touching around his face, etc, and he'd get a treat. Now he's SOOO good at getting his teeth brushed. He comes into the bathroom with me every night, it's his little routine and he doesn't even put up a fuss (well, not too big anyways). I wouldn't say he enjoys it but he tolerates it and that's what is important! I bought CET beef flavored toothpaste which he seems to like and a CET finger toothbrush (which I find a bit easier to brush with). It just takes time and training just like anything else. :) |
I use the beef flavored C.E.T. from my vet. The vet tech told my she saw a dog that died or almost died from the spray. I guess the owner gave it too much and it had alcohol in it. |

What amazed me me was the before and after pictures..after 30 days..no stain or plaque..then when I used it..it was just like the pictures showed..and you use so very little at a time..even with 2 dogs...the level in the bottle has barely dropped..I give it an A++++. |

How old does the yorkie need to be? Is it preventative as well as corrective? How often would you give to a puppy? |

I too am in need of some plaque remover for my dogs So where can I find the Plaque Off ? Is it available in the pet stores? |

I have just started using petzlife on Teegy because even though I'm brushing I still noticed plaque. Another that's incredibly highly recommended is Leba II. Just spray on the dogs tongue, it's for severe issues. |

We use Biotene Water Additive - from the vet So far it is working great and we have noticed a big difference. Our neighbor used the Tropiclean on her Chi/Pap mix but it didn't do much. Definitely much happier with the Biotene and we let them chew Greenies once per day. Their teeth are gradually getting better. |
