Has anyone ever heard of this breeder, Misty Irwin?
 

Just wondering if anyone has ever heard of a breeder named Misty Irwin, in Norris, TN?

My little rescued Yorkie, Bear, was originally pruchased form her. His papers say that he is CKC registered and his Sire is Whispering Pines, Mr. Romeo, and his Dam is Whispering Pines, Tiny Venus. When I called Misty to tell her that I had Bear, and to ask a few questions about his adoption/shot records (assuming she had some record of who adopted him), and if she could email me pictures of his parents, she asked me what his birthdate was and what his parents names were. I had already told her he was 5 months old. :confused: Shouldn't she know this? She said that he'd had his first set of shots and 3 wormings before leaving her. She told me that she only had a few litters a year. I again asked her if she could send me pictures of his parents and she said she was really busy. After asking a few different times, she finally asked me to txt her my email address and she would send me pics of the father. Wouldn't she have the mother too? I sent my email to her # but got a reply back that it was an invalid #?? I called her today to ask her if the parents ears were up or down. She told me taht both were up and that she was working and couldn't talk. She didn't say "I'm working but you can call me or I will call you at a better time". she just acts bothered by my questions.

Wouldn't a reputable breeder be willing to talk to someone who has rescued one of their pups and be happy to answer any question? :confused:

I certainly WOULD NOT RECCOMEND Misty Irwin as a breeder for Yorkies!!!:mad:

She also told me that she adopts them out at 8 wks if they are eating on their own. :(

Yes! A reputable breeder would be willing to talk to you. First clue she isn't a reputable breeder is the registry she uses the CKC is not a reputable registry. The CKC will register anything and it's considered a paper registry. Of course I'm talking about the Continental Kennel Club. A reputable breeder would want to know if you were a suitable parent, but obviously she doesn't check that part out. So glad that little Bear found a great home though. I wouldn't really keep in contact with her, I don't think she'll tell you the truth about much.

Nancy I agree with much about what you said. But let the owner formally let the breeder know of health concerns. Even if you think it is just pissing in the wind.

I called her again and it must be set up to ring into this Sprint cell #
865-740-2325. I sent her a txt asking her to email me photos of Bear's parents. I hope she does.

I've pretty much given up but I would love to see pictures of Bears parents.

I hope that by posting this, I can prevent even one person from buying from her!

If she were a reputable breeder her dog wouldn't have ended up in a rescue.

It really wasn't a rescue, the owner was selling him on Craig's list. SophieandZiggy uses the term "rescue" because Bear isn't neutered and we were afraid he end up in the wrong hands.

It was actually an ebay yard/garage sale. He was for sale along with many other household/ clothing items. His hair was matted so tight to his skin it was horrific. There's no way he'd ever been brushed! You couldn't tell it by looking at his picture, and he'd never even been to a vet! It sure felt like a rescue to me! He needed saved from the 17 year old girl that had him!

OMG. She just txt me back and said that she was headed outta town with job, and to txt her in a couple weeks. What about those poor little Chihauhaua puppies??? lol

I'm sure they're old enough to fend for themselves!

Mardelin's the one that's knowledgeable, I'm more of what people call a smart a$$. :p Anyway, my replies were serious, except for the one about the puppies being able to fend for themselves.

It felt that way to me too Stephanie:( Do you remember the texts that his former teenage owner texted me that night when we met for you to pick Bear up? Wanting to know if her "friend" could use Bear as a stud for her female yorkie!!! Told me then and there what type of owner he was with before we rescued him out of that horrible home he was in.

Yes Michelle, I certainly do remember! :eek: This was definitely a rescue! I know he was in worse shape when you got him than what he was whenI got him from you. :(

Oh wow, I didn't know she was only 17, is she the one that was having a baby? I think I'm getting them all mixed up.

Nancy she is the one who had a two week old baby:( It was in my hometown. She hasn't checked on Bear since that first day, when she wanted to know if I would let her friend use him as a stud. I told her he was already scheduled for his neuter and he would never be a stud. Haven't heard a word from her since I burst that bubble. She doesn't know that I was only rescuing Bear for Stephanie, I was afraid it would scare her off if she knew and she wouldn't meet me..I just pretended that I was buying him from her yard sale.... here is a link for the original thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-so-wrong.html

Wow that is not a fair statement ! Breeders have NO legal rights after the dog is sold. Contracts that say the new owner must spay/neuter, contact the breeder before rehoming etc. etc. Can not be enforced. A puppy I sold in 1996 turned up 10 years later in a rescue. The owner died and her adult children gave it up, to a rescue. Thank Goodness they gave the rescue the dogs AKC papers and Vet records. Someone saw my name and called me. I was not able to adopt the dog myself at the time (I had too many dogs according to this rescue) But they did find him an excellent home. That Lab lived to be 15 ! I exchanged email and pictures with the couple that adopted him.

I think they are referring to the fact that the breeder sold her puppy to a 17 year old female who couldn't care for him. I didn't get the impression from anyone that the breeder wasn't reputable because the dog ended up needing to be rescued..she isn't reputable just because the rescue was due to who she sold him to.....
