that is sad. Shows we should not always jump to conclusions about people. Most of the time when you get the complete story you have to think would you be able to do any different in the same situation.

I am so proud of you getting little Bear.. I know he will be very happy with his new Mommy!!!

Wow, only 17. I can see why she is overwhelmed. So the way she went about trying to find the dog a home was a little crazy in my opinion...wanting the most money, ect but I'm happy she picked the right person in the end to give him up to. I can't really judge. She is young and probably did not know what to do and from the sounds of it not the greatest person with the upkeep of him aka his matted fur. So I'm not too surprised she got him and then felt the need to give him up. I made a lot of bad mistakes at that age so I'm happy to see she made the right decision to give him to someone that is going to love him and give him the home he deserves. It's crazy when you're young and all you care about is getting your own animal and then you realize you are going to have an even harder time taking care of a baby. Glad she didn't end up keeping him and trying to take care of a baby and a dog at that age. I'd go nuts! I'm really happy though he's adjusting well with Michelle and am so excited to watch him grow with Karen and her family. :)

That is really good to hear. :) I think he will do just fine!! SophieandZiggy, sounds like you are getting a new little sweetheart. I can't wait to see how much he blossoms when he gets settled in his new home with you. :) Congrats to you!! Michelle, make sure you give those two little jealous furbutts extra treats for putting up with the new guy!! :D

What furbaby wouldn't be happy with you, Michelle?:D Dogs sense things, Bear knows you care about him. He knows he is safe in your care and your DH taking to Bear helped him adjust too. Some people are amazed at how dogs seem to take up with me and I always say that a dog knows, sees and feels things that people don't. You are a wonderful person, Michelle, and I am so glad to call you my friend. God Bless You.:)

I am so excited for you and I know you are going to love Bear...I would be lying if I didn't say I am going to shed a few tears when he leaves us tonight.. I have to say I admire anyone who can do rescue day in and day out....this is tough

I'll bet you shed some tears, too. I think it's tough to have them in the home for even a little while and then send them on. He sounds like a well-adjusted and happy puppy, so I know he'll do well from now on.

I had a little toy poodle when I had my first baby - my little dog used to lay under his crib when he napped - when he crawled, she would walk right next to him - they became best friends. The dog will understand that you are busy with the baby - but it doesn't mean you don't have enough love for both. What will happen when you have a second child and your first one doesn't get as much time and attention? My first son understood when we had our 2nd that his time had to be shared - no different with a dog. Reminds me of all the dogs being 'turned in' because of the 'economy' it is so upsetting - I would sell everything I had before I would part with one of my dogs. It's just another excuse to get rid of a pet you don't really want.
