What does it mean when... Your dog lifts his leg while looking at you and pees on the kitchen cabinet? Yes this is what Peanut did!! I have no idea how to discipline this! It seems like he did it on purpose, I mean why else would he look at me?? :confused: |

I"m thinking possible insubordination because Peanut's very upset with you over something :mad: or maybe "look at me mama, I don't feel good" :(. |
Yikes, have you got any new furniture or any new guests in the house? If not it sounds like he is trying you, not sure why though...I know when I first brought Prissy home that Yoshi hiked his leg on my sofa skirt right in front of me the next day..Well I said no and put him outside and he hasn't done it since. |
Nope- no new anything. I must say he isnt 99.9% potty trained he still has accidents, but the way he did it was shocking! I don't know what to do with this dog, he is 4 years old he should know where to go potty!! To dicipline them for potty in the house don't you have to catch them in the act- has anyone tried squirt bottles, he apparently isn't scared of me lol |
Has he been under any undue stress, or have you? Dogs can sense when we are going through things. Dogs mark to show ownership and a sense of belonging. You were probably too shocked at the time, but if you can’t say "no" while he's doing it, it's best not to discipline him afterwards. Their memory isn't that long; he'll have no idea why you are upset. |
:eyetearss I believe this is a milder version of "Piss on You!" :lol tears I am sorry, but I almost choked, from my side of the monitor it is hilarious. But from yours I'm sure it isn't. I would call this attention getting behavior and :eek: it worked. Why he is doing it isn't nearly as important as how you react. I would remove him to his "timeout" place, clean up the mess, wipe the counter and floor with white vinegar and then take Peanut back to the exact spot and tell him "NO" in a firm voice and then take him to his regular potty place and give praise. I would repeat this several times today to "remind" him. He will remember the scent and start to associate the vinegar smell with do not peepee here! |

That’s my problem I don’t think I react very well. When I do find pee on the floor it is always to late, so I cant do much to him. He does see me cleaning in up and I know he knows. Peanut gets all the attention in the world, I am not sure why he would want more.. What is a good “time out” place? I have his pack n play, he goes in that in the day when I am gone at work, he also has his crate that he sleeps in, he loves both of those so I don’t want to put him in there for time out- then he might not like them as much… I will def buy some white vinegar tonight and clean that area, What is a good cleaning product to use to clean up pee? Is it just the white vinegar, or like the distilled white vinegar? |
When my boys act up... They have to go to time out! I know it sounds ridiculous, but they KNOW I'm not happy.... Why peanut did that though.....hmmmmm no clue!! |

Never before - been house-trained for months - but he did this too! :eek: I caught him mid-pee and picked him up - he was still going!!! :( Took him outside and he finished off in his normal place. I did the really sharp 'NO' during the whole fiasco - and praised him for going in the right place. I was practically stroking the bird-bath with praise!! :D I know a lot of people have had great success with the squirt-bottle. Harry being Harry sits there with his mouth open waiting for his next drink - strange boy! :) Think a lot of diligence at the mo and catching him 'in the act' is the way to go. Good luck!
