sleeping with us Is it ok for our little Milo to sleep with us? I never had a dog that slept with us. Milo starts out in the utlilty room at night but i hear him about 3 or so in the morning so i will let him out and he will get in bed with us or our daughter. I am afraid he is cold. He seems to be cold because he is shaking. He goes back to sleep and sleeps the rest of the night. Is it a bad idea to start this? |
Mine sleep with us every night. I LOVE it. Sophia snuggles by daddy and Peyton snuggles by me. :) I know everyone does not agree with letting a dog sleep in your bed. But, this works great for us. |
Brandi sleeps with me every night. For safety reasons, depending on high your bed is, you may want to get your little one some steps. Their little bones are fragile and could easily break a leg jumping off the bed. You will find a lot of members let their littles ones sleep with them. Heck some members have multiple yorkies and they all sleep in the bed:p |

Once its started it wont ever stop. But, our lil furbaby has slept with us from day 1. I would not have it any other way. I love the way she snuggles up with us at night. She may only be 3 pounds but she sure is a pillow hog! And when hubby snores to loud she jumps on his chest and licks his nose till he rolls over and stops snoring. Its the funnest thing I have ever seen but she needs her sleep too!! :D Our yellow lab and blue heeler both sleep with my daughter. She is only 9 but I sure do sleep better knowing they are in there and that she is 100% safe. Our heeler would not even let a fly land on her at night and the lab is about the same. I dont even try to sneek in her room without them dogs knowing that I am there. |
Bailey has been sleeping in her kennel since she was little. I tried letting her sleep with me once, but she didn't like it. She got up at 4 am and didn't want to sleep, she tried to take up the whole bed, and I was not comfy because I didn't want to wake her up if I moved. She really likes her kennel. She sleeps longer too. I also read that there were a lot of dangers sleeping with your dog, including diseases. It's a personal dicession you have to make though. |
We were going to have Annie sleep in her crate when we got her but, she would not have any idea of that. She would whine and cry all night. So, we decided to let her sleep with my DD. This was when she was about 14 weeks and she is now 7 months and still happily sleeping with my DD. We have never had a potty accident in bed and she will sleep about 9 hours a night. My DD is loving it. So, I guess you could say it has been a win-win situation for us. |
My two have always slept with us and sleep all night long. I wouldn't have it any other way. |
sleeping :aimeeyork;) poppy has always slept with us :) i could not sleep if she wasnt there , she sleeps the whole of the night :D love jill n poppy xx |
All my furbabies sleep with us! My bed is high off the ground so we have steps for them. |
Sophie and Ziggy sleep in between me and my husband! |
We have had a small dog sleep with us....it started to interfear with our intimacy. Now the two larger dogs sleeps in my one sons room, the smaller dog sleeps with my other son and our Yorkie sleeps in either her crate or her play yard...with no dogs in bed with us, there is more intimacy and we actually sleep better. Once Sunny gets big, she will have her pick of which son she wants to sleep with. Bobbi |
all three of mine sleep in the bed with us one sleeps behind the pillows one sleeps in between us and my dog sleeps under the quilt all snuggled up beside me |
Geno started out sleeping in his crate for maybe a 2-3 nights but then I got depressed hearing him whine downstairs so we moved the crate to the bedroom. He still whined so I snuck him into bed. My boyfriend came upstairs and I gave him a story of Geno finding a cape and flying into bed like Super Dog. My boyfriend was mad for about a minute but then saw how much Geno wanted to be with us at night that he is okay with it. We got steps for Geno since the bed is pretty high. My mom was so mad at us cause she was so scared we'd roll over on him at night. Thankfully we haven't and he ends up sleeping right in between our heads anyways. |
Right now, Katie Scarlett sleeps in our room, but not on the bed. She has her big girl bed, a potty pad, and water bowl set up in the corner of the room. We have a small x pen set up around it. But we were wanting to confine her until she was potty trained. She is almost if not 100% of the way there. I let her lay up in the bed with us until she goes to sleep and then I gently lay her down in her big girl bed. My husband is going to be building us some stairs so she can just sleep up there with us soon. She is a good girl when she gets to go to sleep on the bed. When I put her immediately into her big girl bed without cuddling, she will bark a bit. If I don't give in, she will bark for a while, but finally give in. I'd rather her just be up there with me. I sleep alone as my husband works nights about 4 nights per week. It'd be nice to have a companion on the nights he is not here. LOL |
Bella sleeps with me and I love it. When I have my nieces yorkie for our visitations, Tator, Spud, as my husband's nickname for him, sleeps with husband and he likes it. It's all good. |
my chihuahua and sonic both sleep with me |
I can't sleep with any of mine. Zada wheezes all the time due to CT, Azrael is a MAJOR norer and her and Razael will bark at every little noise. No way can I sleep with these girls. I have a friend who sleeps with several of her Yorkies. She has steps to her bed, & potty pad and water in the master bath. Works for them! :p |
Cali slept in the play pen for 3 nights with no problems when she first came to live with me. I have stairs on the side of the bed and she would get up there while I brushed my teeth and such in the morning. The fourth night when I was getting ready for bed I came out of the bathrooms and there she was lying on my pillow with that a look that said " O.K. I'm here to stay" and that was it. When she was sick with IVs for 5 days in the hospital I could not sleep without her :D Soooo, once you start .......... |
Jack sleeps in bed with us - right between my hubby and I. He usually starts out cuddling up next to daddy, then he cuddles up next to me and when I get out of bed in the morning for work, he cuddles back up with daddy. The only reason I never let any other dog (or cat) of ours sleep with us is because of all the fur. Jack doesn't shed, therefore he is the luck one. I do believe they get chilled at night or your little could be shaking because he is scared. |
A lot of people on this forum let their dogs sleep with them. The last three small dogs I have had have slept with me. They are clean and warm and cuddly so why not? Gracie has pet steps so she can get up and down off the bed by herself. Most Yorkies do not have undercoats and they can get cold very easily. Gracie likes to sleep under the covers many times. |
My puppy has his own bed and blanket next to my bed. The first couple of months he would sleep there with no problems. One day I came home from work and found him asleep on my bed with the pillows and blanket. Well since then he has slept in my bed which I don't mine. He also tends to fall asleep in living room couch. |
Our almost 13# Shih Tzu sleeps with us, usually down by my feet, & Lexi has since the second night & usually snuggles up against me. It is really funny sometimes as I have awoke with her sleeping across the back of my neck or across my forehead. :D I prefer them sleeping with us as I like the closeness & I feel they do too. Keegan, our 12 y/o, use to but now he is too fearful of getting up & down. We have steps that the two use. |
I would move his crate or what ever he sleeps in at least to your room he probably doesn't like sleeping all by himself. I am a "rough" sleeper so I don't let Callie sleep in my bed unless she is sick for fear of rolling over her. Callie sleeps in a soft comfy dog house next to my bed. If he is shaking he probably is cold and needs some pjs or a shirt to sleep in mine sleeps in fleece nightgowns at night. |
Both of mine sleep with us at night. Sometimes the cats join us too... It gets a little crowded, but we love it. When we feel like having a little more space, we just shut the door so the cats don't come in, and we get to spread out more. |
Jax has slept with me every night since he was 4 months old. :) Wouldn't have it ANY other way!! |
Mina slept in a pac n play the first night. She has been in our bed every night sense, she is now 11 months old. Her favorite places are between my and DHs pillows or up against me with her head on my pillow. |
1 Attachment(s) Tashi sleeps with me every night, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love waking up to her nose right in my face and her scaring the bajeebies out of me. (pic attached) Their little noses/faces look so huge when theyre right by your eyeballs. :D  She snores if she sleeps on her back, so sometimes I have to roll her over, but I don't mind, it's the price I pay for the bestest puppy cuddles in the world ;) I feel strange sleeping without her. |
Pheebie and our Fox Terrier mix Kelsie sleep with us. I wouldn't have it any other was either :-) |
we have stairs and both my babies sleep with me. nothing like waking up to cedric giving me morning love!! |
