We have 3, a wheaten terrier and the two yorkies- vet bills were crazy for the wheaten but have been almost nil on Ziva and Abby - after shots and spay. I found giving them all a bath helped acceptance of Abby- they were sniffing around her so oddly when I bought her home I thought she should smell like them. It worked! |
We have 3 dogs (6m old yorkie) (12week yellow lab) (2year blue heeler) 1 cat, 1 fish, 1 hampster, 1 rabbit and they all play well together. Yes, the rabbit plays with the dogs and so does the hampster. We have a zoo! The food bills are crazy... the vet bills are crazy... and to top it all off I babysit from home. I have up to 8 kids in my house somedays. I need to be in a looney bin I am sure but we love it and would not have it anyother way. I raised my daughter to be an animal lover and boy let me tell you she is!!! We also live on a farm and have plenty of room for all these animals to have happy homes. |
I too have been away from the yorkietalk community for quite awhile - I initially joined 3 years ago when I was getting my lil guy - Gizmo. We are also considering adding an addition to our family. Initially we were going to get another male yorkie - however after talking to our vet - he suggested opposite sex and different breed. His reasoning behind this is b/c Gizmo has always had a lil anxiety issue and he feels that bringing another male into the house could increase the anxiety. He also didnt think it was a good idea to get something smaller than Giz (who is 12 lbs lol) I am going tomorrow to see a 3 1/2 month old female scottish terrier. it appears several of you have more than one yorkie - any opinions on this opposite sex/breed thing? - my husband wants to go w/ the original male yorkie plan but again after talking to the vet - im a lil unsure. Thanks,! Tim |
I have three males in the house together and they all get along good for the most part. They have differences of opinions but they work it out with my help. |

we got the female scottie last night -Kira Noelle is her name - her and Giz are doing well so far. He too isn't sure how to get away from her when he's done. LOL she's more assertive as well but I have a feeling once he realizes she's here - and she gets used to the way things work around here we'll be just fine. I'm trying to pick up w/ the crate training where the lady I got her from left off. My bf however isn't too thrilled about the idea and is fighting me every step of the way. he too will have to adjust ! |
