At 13 weeks Sheila gets the pee pad about 85 percent of the time. If she can see it it's closer to 100. I think it's easier if you don't have carpeting to pee pad train as there is a there is little difference in texture to carpeting. I say this because the vast majority of the time she has a mistake is on one of my throw rugs. Lol I now have no rug in my bedroom and bathroom and I got them at such a good price at pottery barn :( . She never has a mistake at her day care and they're all so proud of her! Wow I can't believe I just said that and I'm a full grown man...shhh! don't tell my friends, I'd never hear the end of it ;) . The other thing I do now is keep a bag of Lil' Bits greenies by her pad and give her a couple when she gets it right. Honestly I'm pretty proud of my baby. |
Dolce was about 95% trained on the pee pad when she was about 3 months old...then she started reverting back and going wherever she wanted. I was so frustrated and whenever i saw her going someplace where she was not supposed to, i yelled at her. They are very smart and i think she was looking for the attention or she was mad that we weren't paying attention to her at the time. After i saw that, I went right back to how i trained her when i first got her...whenshe would wake up in teh morning i would place her on the pad and say "go pee pee", she never had trouble with the pooping part, she always got that right on the pad!! Oh and I would watch her like a hawk when she was out of the playpen. I know its hard to have your eye on them ALL the time, but its god until u can be sure she is going to go on teh pad. Alot of times she would be right by the pad and just be missing it by an inch, of course i never yelled at her then...she had the right idea, just the wrong dimensions of the pee pad. The only yelling i did was if she was in the hallway, or in the middle of the living room and looked at us and squatted. She is now 7 mths old and goes on the pad about 98% of the time...of course there is the occasional accident, but it is always like an inch or 2 from the pad. Don't worry, ur baby will get the hang of it if you are consistent about putting her on that pad and watching her and directing her to it. Try spotting the pad like other people said with her pee. She will associate this area with peeing then. She is still very young, so give her time and tell ur roomate to be a little more patient with a 3 mth old baby!!! Good luck!! |
It makes sense, I know she's only three months and she doesn't know yet. When I put her on the pad she pees on it, sometimes not on the right spot but at least she gets it. She's a smart girl, but she's only three months. I know some day she'll get it, it's just my room mate I'm afriad of. |
I know how u feel. My dad expected my baby to know to go on the pad in like the first week. He had tons of big dogs when i was growing up and they all listened to him from like the first day, i mean i was walking our german shepard when i was 3 years old...if thats not a trained dog...lol Anyway, I felt bad that Dolce didnt know to go on the pad and i felt like i was a bad mother who could not train her baby, but then i realized, all dogs are different, just like all humans are different. I mean my nephew will still not poop on the potty and he's 4. Make sure your roomate understands this, oh and maybe u could go and get Nature's Miracle cleaner. When she pees where she's not supposed to, clean it up with this. It takes away teh smell so the pup doesnt know that he/she has gone there before. Because once they pee somewhere, even though we clean it up and think the smel is gone, their noses are much much more sensitive and they do still smell it. This stuff really is a miracle. I cant tell u how much it has helped and stopped Dolce from going in places where she peed and she wasnt supposed to. Try it and let me know if it works for u. Oh and tell ur roomate "patience is a virtue"...ur right, SHE WILL GET THE HANG OF IT....it just takes a little while. Good luck!! :aimeeyork |
What's the product that u used? |

Since I did this post Tyesha has been going on the pad :D , you think she reads this. lol? Wow I can't believe it she's three months and going on the pad, I guess I made it fun for her because I'll kiss her and tell her pee pee mami pee pee, and she run her little fat ass to the pad and pee. Only one problem she likes to poop in the bathroom, and it's not big enough to put a pad there, any ideas on this? She's now three months and weighs four pounds, aka pure fat ass :aimeeyork |
It's hard ..i'm having the same predicament. I feel like such a horrible mom going to work and having other obligations..not letting her go potty etc. What should we do? :( |
