I really hope this thread does not take off in a negative direction, although I can completely understand your concerns. |
So she has AKC purebreds but then does have mixed litters from time to time? No, I didn't want to stir the pot at all, just wondering why everyone was being so supportive here yet in other cases the poster seems to get a bunch of worried replies about the fact they are buying from a BYB. I for one LOVE "shorkies" and "labradoodles" haha... so I understand wanting a mix and for them to be desirable :D Just wondering was all. I think in this case, go for it. You already have a pup from her and your son knows what he wants! |

I have known Kendra on here for quite some time. She is a wonderful person. She already has a pup from this breeder that her daughter wanted, and if her son desires one like it that is really her business. I have only owned purebred, AKC yorkies, but that is my preference. We also have others on this site who own mixed breeds, such as yorkiepoos. If there is a new person, also new to this breed, who is asking an opinion of a breeder and it looks like a puppymill to me, I will voice it. However, getting all up in arms w someone who has a different opinion is not my style. Kendra owning a mixed breed takes nothing away from the person that she is, IMO. |

OMYorkies I'll go there Schnorkies are my favorite mix I have one my Scoobers (pup mill designer hybrid mix mut dumpee-gee he didn't "fit" the Schnorkie standard apparently ha ha on that) and I have one of each my Elvis Yorkie & my Princess (mini schnauzer) -the allure for me is a more sturdy looking Yorkie & a more silky looking long hair schnauzer...wish there was a Schnorkie like breed but there's not. However after knowing what I know now-don't support designer/hybrid/mixed dog breeding. After learning from YorkieTalk it's either AKC registered or rescue for me forever on...or both these days actually. That's my opinion, I formed via education, I'll defend it & Kendra's choice as long as the breeder is responsible with health temperament & treatment, but she should stop mixing & stick to AKC litters starting tomorrow. Kendra, I have blond moments all the time... In all seriousness though MY personal train of thought is one puppy at a time as to train fully before adding to the circus that is puppy training. I did however get two at the same time before, the two I just got my Elvis at 2 1/3 years and Princess I forget she was like 19 weeks I think. Are you up for all the puppy training at once? |
Only you can answer that question and if its what you want then go for it. As for me I know I couldn't resist that face or my sons lol |

I just don't know, especially after the past few posts.... I will give it much thought and pray on it.... I knew you all could make my wheels turn and make me think of all the pros and cons!! So thanks! |
sit, stay, return, clean up your toys, no barking, potty outside, return with ball, no bite...all that puppy training. |

LOL.. the only way Kaos cleans up any of his toys, is if I bring him to my neighbors house. Kaos puts the toys all around the house, and the little girl yorkie comes by and puts them one by one in a pile in the corner. It's the cutest thing I have ever seen. :p |
puppy fever! I personally don't know you so I can only give you a spectators outlook. One of your dogs just had a really awful experience, and I think you should wait a little while to let it all ride through before you consider another dog. Financially if you can swing it, then you can swing it if you wait a little while. I don't know if a puppy jumping around Mack's newly healing surgery incisions would be the wisest choice. I know he's getting the stitches out soon, but he still needs some quiet time. He may look great but it's only been a week? or two weeks? I wouldn't think it would be the best time to add to the household. Puppy fever is a tough thing to battle, looking at those little faces makes it a challenge, but personally I would just hold out a few months before you can have everything settled again. As for the the breeder situation, I think it's anyone's personal decision to make. Yes, everyone can weigh in and advise in any way they want but ultimately it's them who choses what they do and how they decide to take it. So for me, I trust that someone with experience from this breeder would have good judgement. One more thing, Shih Tzu not s**tzu hehehehe :p |
LOL Scoobers can identify almost all of his toys, rope ball, ball, rope squeakers etc I say "get your..." and he knows and gets it well if he could dig through the basket he should be able to put it back in right? We're still working on it here we lagged while I was having a harsh pregnancy and for baby's beginnings so we're working on reinforcing what we already should know and then moving on. To be honest they know it but are just so naughty lol I beleive Brister has trained Jackson to pick up his toys and someone else with three has two that do it-like on command. General training wise: Elvis does nothing-well he does go lay down your bed and stop barking in my house oh and get down or back up. That's right he doesn't even sit or stay or anything he's the ideal lap dog though he doesn't jump up he just follows me or my daughter everywhere, finds a spot to perch himself and perches. Plus his arthritis prevents him doing a lot of the other 'tricks' my terriers do and that's about it. I'm pretty sure he's just too smart to get trained. My other two do tricks but again their tricks and training commands are in serious need of fine tuning. Scoobers by far is the most well trained here, Princess is a serious work in progress I wanted to start agility over the summer but hey that's what next summer is for. I still can't walk all three on leashes together by myself. |
