We found the owner!! We put a flyer up at the gas station up the street that just said Lost dog, call with a description and show proof of ownership. She seen it when she was putting up her own flyer, she came to the house with pictures proving she was hers. She was crying and everything. It felt good to find the owner....her yorkie's name was cocoa which fit because she had chocolate coloring in her hair. She was also AKC registered. So happy!! :) |
Yay!!! Great job!!! |
 |
How wonderful that you took her in and able to reunite her with her family. When our Tana wandered off (she couldn't see or hear well anymore), I was beside myself with worry and immensely grateful for the kind lady took her in and returned her to us. My girls are now microchipped, but getting our furbabies back ultimately depends on the heart of those they wander upon. ;) |
2 Attachment(s) Here is a couple pictures of her with my Bandit....she is the smaller one. |
That's great! I am sure she was pleased that she was in the care of someone who knew yorkies and knew how to care for her. |

Definitely call around to local animal shelters and also local vets. I know they'll probably get a call if someone is looking for her. I'd also make your posters vague just in case someone is looking for a cheap puppy. :( Also agreeing with the proof of ownership before handing her over! Glad you found her though and that she has a nice warm place to stay! |
The same thing happened to me on 8/6/11. I already have a wonderful Yorkie, Bailey. He is now two. My son's girlfriend found the stray Yorkie. I had her do posters, the vet, ride around the neighborhood, call the shelters, no microchipping. No luck. I called shelters, no kill, they did not want him. I was busy calling places when my son's friend arrived with him.I took one look at him and said he was mine. I took him to the vet, had to neuter him, shots and teeth cleaning. He was very under weight and appeared he was abused. He is house broken. The vet said he is four. Bailey is two. I named him Benny. He has turned out to be a wonderful dog. We just love him. He gets along just fine with Bailey. The best we can tell, someone did not want him, did not feed him, and put him out on the street. The economy is so bad, people are just dumping their dogs. Yes, even wonderful Yorkies. The no kill shelters are filled and or want a "shot record". They said the dog had to be released by the owner. I never "rescued" a dog before. Always bought puppies with long lines so I knew what I got. Well, I took a chance and went with my heart. I now have two wonderful Yorkies and am very happy. It feels very good to have saved this wonderful dog's life. The vet gave me discounts on his services. He rescues dogs too. Try to find the owner, we did for days, but, if it fails, think about what happened to me. |
What a great story. I am so glad this furbaby is reunited with his family |
tatertot15I couldn't help but notice the Yorkie is keeping it's head low no eye contact almost appears to cowering without knowing you can see which dog appears to be lost, confused and scared. You did such a good deed! How happy was Coco to see her mom? |
Oh my goodness! This story just makes me so happy!! Today when I was at the vets office, a woman came in with an elderly lady whose Yorkie was missing. She said he'd been missing for two days. They were going around to anywhere they could think of to see put out contacts in case someone found a Yorkie. My heart went out to her. She came over to say hi to Peyton and Sophia and showed me pictures of her "Buddy." I told her I'd be praying for him. So, if you can...please say a prayer that Buddy finds his way home. His momma is missing him. I wanted to add that it made me happy that this sweet elderly lady had someone with her (perhaps a neighbor?) who was willing to take her around to look for her dog. That was a sweet thing to do. She said to me on the way out, "I'm so glad you are here today...she needed a little Yorkie fix." |
Kudos to you for doing the right thing and finding the owner. This story just makes my heart sing and restores my faith in people. :) |
Isn't this just the greatest story? I'm so thankful a real Yorkie-lover found her and worked so hard to reunite this darling little girl with her mommie. I wish every one that found a stray dog was as responsible and dedicated to helping the dog and its owner get together again as you. That lady should be eternally grateful to you. Job very well done!!! |
Awwww..I just LOVE happy yorkie endings!!!:D |
