Changing thoughts 1 Attachment(s) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...476-hello.html I posted the pictures about Haruka's new haircut yesterday. I will post one more today. I thought I would like to write about how I changed my thoughts on grooming. Haruka is 5 year old yorkie. I was really into finding out how to do better grooming, shampoo and conditioner, brush, comb etc... Those days were over really. I always wanted to keep her hair long as she has beautiful hair. I loved the way it moves flawlessly as she walks like a model. As time passed I realized that she really didn't like to be groomed. Then I felt that it was more important to have a good relationship with her than me trying to make her look the way I wanted her to look. She is really a well-behaved dog. She used to come with me to work as a therapy dog at social service agency. I never need to worry about her chewing something other than food or dog toys. She sits, downs, paws, waits (even for 20 feet), and very gentle and not aggressive at all. She barks only when she is playing. I cannot ask more from her than who she is. Then I changed my mind about the whole grooming thing. As time passes her hair was groomed shorter and shorter. The haircut this time wasn't what I expected and Haruka herself seems to need some adjustment. I feel that she loves hair being shorter. I never thought that dogs loved to be groomed. One day at New York City upper east side a Pekingese was looking so comfortable getting groomed. She would push the brush when the owner stopped combing her. It was interesting to see. So maybe there are dogs out there who love to be groomed. I think Haruka isn't one of those types :) As I don't have any family in US, Haruka is definitely only family I have. We need to compromise. We are really a good family. Anyway...now she looks a little bit like chihuahua!! |
I think she looks adorable :D. If I let Callie's hair grow out to much she seems to be uncomfortable and ready for the shave down and grooming and acts like she feels a lot better afterward she sometimes even seems to get depressed if it gets to long between groomings. |
Its good to see you back Michiko. Haruka would look cute no matter how you had her hair she just has that baby doll face. I like the long hair too on my Jewels but decided a couple of years ago to just keep it short and that is how I love it now. I hope you stick around the forum is always changing but yet it stays the same also |
She looks adorable!!! I remember some of your post about keeping her in long coat, it is a lot of work to keep up. There are some pic's on here of different cuts where you could keep maybe the hair long on her legs and shorter on the back. That way if you want to keep that bonding time with her while grooming her it's not to much grooming. Just a thought. |
Before I go out.. One more thing... She does look like a bambi! |
Ohhh My Goodness!! She is just Adorable! Love Her!! :) |

I think just the way you do. My girl doesn't like long hair anymore and would rather play and run outside than sit and be brushed and combed. We compromised, too.:) |
You have a WONDERFUL family. She is totally precious? How could you get cuter than this in a dog??? |

RileyDC, chachi, yorkieusa, yorkietalkjilly Thanks for the sweet comments. The funny thing after picking up was.... my bf asked me to make sure to check the front teeth because she just had front teeth removed. He wanted me to be sure that I picked up the right yorkie.. lol She looked so different, but same Haruka with her own personality and smile :) |

Great to see you on YT again, even though we talk on phone all the time. lol Haruka looks like a tiny little Bambi. She is such a cutie. I will have to update her picture on my phone. It took me a long time to decide to cut Cali into a puppy cut. She hates to be groomed, has a thick cottony coat and when Ken got sick I just couldn't keep up all 4 in long coats. I love Cali's shorter hair and so does she. |
