The only thing that really bugs me is when ppl ask how much Norman was. That is MY business - it came from my wallet so what does it matter to you? UNLESS, they are interested in getting a Yorkie - and you can tell - then they always seem to ask it in a more 'general' way AND it isn't the first Q that they ask. Even then they are told the cost 'range' of our breeder - not Norman's actual cost. When walking our larger dog with Norman kids always want to pet Norman - I tell them that the bigger dog (who is quite old and reliable) is the dog that they should pet b/c he likes kids more - kids are usually easily redirected. I've never really felt the need to respond to the whole 'teacup', 'rat on a rope' comments...I try to remember where it comes from -> people that are not well versed on the breed and that probably are trying to make a joke (a bad joke but - whatever). |

Or the ones that say "they are only DOGS"! That one will get my blood pressure very high and will turn on the B-switch in a second. |
Okay well, my first one is IS THAT A TEACUP, no it's a freaking dog get the same thing with he's so small, no he's a standard Yorkie and the other one is a 17 week old pup (dumba.....) This is my killer last week I'm walking them in my neighbourhood, Tufty's first week out on a leash and on his 3rd walk, so I'm taking my time keeping an eye on them. This woman doesn't walk around us she walks up to us jumps and freaks out screaming like the psycho she obviously is. Now I saw someone walking in our direction but my head was bend down watching Tufty and didn't notice that is what the nutty lady who screams at folks in the neighbour hoods dogs. I've seen her cross the street and walk toward people just to do this. So after explaining that to you, I blasted her with the best inappropriate language I had defending my dogs and calling her the psycho that she is for walking toward them and behaving as she did scaring them, she threatened to call the police and said go ahead you absolute mental patient and I'll have you hospitalized you freak. I highly doubt she'll come near me again and I hope I've done a few other dog owners in my hood a favour. This person is normal looking clean well dressed but an idiot |
Well this was fitting to post another remark on this topic. I had to take Abbie with me to run get her flea meds. I had a guy refer to her as chew toy for his hug 125 lb beast. I was so appalled by that There is no such thing as a bad dog just bad owners To add insult to injury I had to run into home Depto to pick up something for the house. I dreaded taking her home and coming back 30 min trip 1 way. I couldn't leave her in the car it is way to hot her in NC to leave any living creature out in a hot car. So I took her in with me I had two people ask if she as a cat because all you could see was her little ears sticking up. Then there were all the tiny dog remarks |
The one time Luma met another yorkie at the dog park, it was owned by a young guy who said he "got dumped with the little rat when my ex broke up with me". Okay, already annoyed with this guy. The dog was 1.5yrs old and was half Luma's size. Luma isn't a teapot-she is 3.5lbs at 5months. She's very tall and bony. this guy asked me if she was a mix. I said no..she's a purebred yorkie. He said are you sure? Then he used his iphone to pull up pics of australian silky terriers. He said, I think she's one of these. I was so offended I picked my dog up and left, but only after saying "Your girlfriend may have been dumb enough to buy into the teacup yorkie fad, but at least she was smart enough to dump you." |
I know little kids are the worst my girls have very different personalities I am thinking about dressing a snow whithe with three drawfs this year. Mollie would grumpy Lizzie would be bashful and Abbie would be happy. The little ones in my neighborhood make a made dash for them every time we go out. I don't mind the petting that much. I get really upset when they try and pick them up even though I am say no don't. They scoop them up under their front legs and dangle them. I ask them not to do that the keep on and on so I talked to the parent and it keep going on and on. I finally just start walking them when they are at school or at night Fter they go in I think people ask about price because they see the per shop babies going for as much as 2500. If people understood those were puppy mill babies in those stores they would stop buying therm. The lure of pet shops is they finance. If you have a good breeder the dogs are not that expensive and the ones I know would let you make payments to them prior to getting your little one |
My #1 Pet Peeve? "Oh my dog accidentally got pregnant". Really? You have an unspayed female and an unneutered male, and left them together:rolleyes: What did ya think was gonna happen? |
....... just to help those with the "money thing" pet peeve.... When asked how much your Yorkie cost, a great response would be......"He/She would have been a bargain at double the price!" :D |
Oh, that money question! Grrrrrr!!!! People are nosey!!! Sometimes I just lower my lids slightly, smile coyly & reply in my best Texas drawl, "Let's just say Ah could afford it, Dahling............" |

My pet peeves are your first two about them being ankle biters and the "it is just a dog" sentiment. I want to strangle people when they say that last one. They don't understand, these are my kids and anyways you should have the respect not to be callous and rude. My third pet peeve is when they think all yorkies are yappy. Mine are not yappy. Again this is something you can control. If you let your dog yap all the time, they will continue to do so. Mine only bark when company is over and that is only for a minute before they calm down because they know they aren't allowed to continue barking. Oh and the whole teacup thing, that really gets to me too. Just because a dog is tiny does not mean they are automatically a teacup all of the sudden yet some really believe teacups are a separate breed. They don't use it to describe the dog's size, they really believe it is a separate division of the breed like standard poodles and toy poodles. |
