Mine are these: 1. When people see my 7lb Maci and say "oh so she's just a regular yorkie, not like one of those teacup yorkeis?" YES she is a regular yorkie ma'am/sir, just like any 1lb yorkie or 20lb yorkie. Yorkies by the standard of the AKC are 7lbs and UNDER. But any dog bigger is just out of standard, and tiny one is just that... tiny. 2. When people ask if she's yappy and hyper. 3. Seeing ads selling "MIRCO TINY TEACUP YORKIES, READY TO GO 6WKS OLD NON REGISTERED" makes me wanna scream. I am a pitbull fanatic, so if you ask about some of the pet peeves about comments made about them I can also go on forever! But whether is ignorance about yorkies or pitbulls I try to educate the person rather than getting made and making them out to be an idiot. And of course you'll always meet that person who insist that their wrong is right. :P |
We share a lot of the same pet peeves... It is amazing that we share a lot of the same pet peeves... The petting one without asking is another one of mine!! My biggest is the having a pet and not paying attention to it, is my BIGGEST one... WHY have the animal if you are not going to pay it any attention. My sisters family is BIG on this... they have 2 labs and one white cat that they only pay attention to them long enough to feed them, ( oh and I am the only one that seems to feed the cat) and last weekend DON'T they bring ANOTHER cat home!! well a kitten.. I was like GREAT, WONDERFUL, ANOTHER Animal to be ignored!! The dogs only get fed once a day and only one scoop of food each. It just breaks my heart to see these animals like this, I can't go out in the middle of the day and pay attention to them because I have to be in the house to take care of the 1 year old baby. As it is I FEEL REAL GUILTY when I have to ignore my two babies because the baby gets into EVERYTHING I tend to stay in one baby proof room with her all day, and BIG shock my dogs are NOT ALOUD:mad: in the room with me and the baby.. the reason... THEY STINK!! or so my sister tells me... I was like ah no they don't I BATHE my dogs... I am just so flustered about the whole dang thing I don't know what to do. So far I have been keeping my thoughts to myself, cause if I did there would be fighting ALL the time!! Personally I think she should do the HUMANE thing and get rid of the dogs, not like anyone is going to miss them none of them pay any attention to them, well other then to yell at them for getting into things, I just really wish that they would get rid of the dogs!! I guess all that I can do is pray REAL HARD that something will be done with them!! Put it in God's hands, because it is clear that my sister isn't going to do anything about it!! |
Pet Peeves ? Rude people is the top of the list. 1. "That can't be a Yorkie because..." I wish I could retort , So I am a liar then ? 2. When people call my Yorkies IT 3. "You have 4 ? OMG Why ?" 4. "Your dogs are so spoiled." I pretend to misunderstand, smile and say 'Yes they do spoil me, they love me more than you can imagion !' 5. "It is just a dog." This one really ticks me off, what does it even mean ? That I SHOULDN'T worry about, take to the Vet, play with, spend money on, or love my Yorkie ? GRRRR..... I might feel the same about their pricey car, they spend too much time polishing, bragging about, and even cover it like a baby, but it is just a car, not a living being. |

These are funny, not really... but sad to see the stupidity of people. One Pet Peeve is I was walking Bailey and this "older" lady came up and her dog and my dog were playing and she was dressed up as usual... in GIRLY clothes, like no way mistakeable for a boy! And she asks whats HIS name, and I say HER name is Bailey. And she says, "Bailey? Bailey is a boys name!" I said no, its not.... its a unisex name. Boy or girl, and we named her that because Bailey looked like a Bailey; not a Jilly, not a Bella, not a Princes... BAILEY! Its A BOY AND GIRL NAME! Another one is when they call her... him!(with a bow, dresses, and all her clothes on!) Come on now, do I need to get you glasses. One more is when little kids try to take her from the ground to pick her up, without asking or petting her(anyone) without asking. Children espically, and then holding her wrong like shes a rat by the tummy. I take Bailey right back and say,"nice meeting, you. She has to finish her walk:)." And I leave! The nerve of people these days! |
it make me mad when they say he is just a dog? Morgan is not just a dog he is my baby/ my confidante/ i love him so much |
The following things people say to me drive me insane: 1. "Why would would you spay such a unique looking dog, you could make money off of her." 2. "This is a dog park, why did you bring an overgrown rat?" 3. "She has to be mixed with a chihuahua, there is no way that is a yorkie, her colours aren't standard yorkie colours" Yeah, that is because she is a Biewer mixed with a standard yorkie. 4. "She can't be a yorkie, she doesn't have really long hair" Yeah, it is because we keep her hair short through the spring, summer, and fall and let it grow during the winter. It is a preference, she hates being brushed and is happier without long hair. 5. My personal 'favourite' "She can't be a 2.5 years old, she is too small and she still has a puppy face, she is definitely only 6 or 7 months" a. Yes, she is tiny, but not that small for a yorkie - she weighs just over 4lbs and she does have sweet little puppy face, and I love it. b. I am pretty sure I have had her since August 2009...so unless I had a fake dog the last 2 years, I have no idea how she is going to only be 6 or 7 months old.. |
I am used to the silly remarks by now, I just smile and tell them the facts about Sophie Kate (she's a Yorkie, no she will never have puppies, yes she is wearing pink toenail polish). The one comment that always gets me is it seems like almost all the time I get a comment from someone saying "I have one just like her at home". I think to myself "GREAT lets talk Yorkie" but they usually never want to talk Yorkie with me... makes me wonder a little. Perhaps it is me, they just don't want to talk to me LOL. |

"Rat with long hair.." I'm not one to restrain, so you can only imagine my remark. |
I agree to all of those, I get is he yappy and what is he, he is big for a yorkie and will he bite me, I say no but he will lick ya to death |
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say "I just don't understand why someone would get a dog if they work long hours". I read something similar on this board today in response to a post about someone who works full time. I hate to break it to the world at large, but the majority of people in this country work 40 hours a week outside of the home! When I got my dogs, I was lucky enough to work from home. Unfortunately, that is no longer an option. Shall I go dump them off at the pound now because I'm a single parent with a full time job? REALLY? Ooh, that gets me steamed! I'm sure other people might use full time employment as an excuse to dump their dogs saying they don't have time for them, but that's just an excuse. My dogs are like my children! They are loved and doted on AND WANT FOR NOTHING! |
I just get tired of people saying SHE when everything Levi owns is very, very boyish. Blue leash, blue harness, blue clothes...just because he's a small, long-haired pup doesn't mean he is automatically a girl. |

LOL..this is SO annoying. Kaos was in petsmart trying on clothes the other day and when he was wearing a blue shirts with skulls on it someone came by and said "what a cute little girl." I'm guessing because his hair is in a little pony as we work on growing it out. |

PUPPY! preceded by a stranger little child running up to us reaching out for my dogs, I say they don't like kids just because I already know by the approach the children obviously aren't trained I know I sound so rude but really my children know how to act, they did far before we had a dog of our own so there is no excuse other than people fail at be attentive... |
:)Okay I don't have a pet peeve, but I heard something this summer, that I thought was funny, creative and cute. Razz was in swimming on a hot and busy summer day at Kelso (a closeby conservation park), I was back a bit watching him go out to retreive the toy and as he was swimming back; one lady said to the other lady, "what does he have on his hair?", the lady confidently replies; oh Those are mini flotation devices.! I about cracked up, they were his wraps of course. I didn't bother to correct "that experts response". Yes I've had the "rat comment" particularly when he is swimming; he is almost always referred to as a she IDK perhaps because of the wraps, or when he is showing all that long gorgeous hair and a sparkly topknot bow. I've never had anyone try to pick him up, I have had kids run straight up to him, and I merely step in front of him and put out my hand to stop the kids. Of course for me, some of the reasons might be that I'm often out in the company of my big boy Magic. It may have something to do with either the no comments or the derogatory small dog comments; as it is obvious I own both. What I'd really love to do is get a mini harness and sulkie made for Razzle and he can pull that out on our walks lmao |
"Oh is that one of those 'teacup' Yorkies?" (after researching before choosing a Yorkie, who turns out to be 4.5 pounds but from a world-class breeder, it feels like a slur) |

Agree!:thumbup::thumbup: A friend of mine has a Yorkie and asked me if Max was a teacup. I tried not to react, but my usual snippy reaction is to just say, "No. Yorkies are a toy breed and teacup is a term byb use to sell them". I can understand the general population using this term (sort of) but not a person who owns a Yorkie for years! |
"what kind of rat is that?" This was a few months ago at Lowe's. Some random guy tried to be cute and make conversation using my dog as a centerpiece. Didn't go over well. I have sapphire blue eyes that produce a stare of death. I nearly punched him. He just slowly walked away. |
God help the person that ever says that in front of me... I will educate them on the spot:D Actually I usually get the what kind of puppy is that? I say shes not a puppy shes actually much older than she looks! Leaves them to figure it out on their own! lol!!! |

Pet peeve..."Is that a teacup?" But truthfully, before I joined yorkietalk over 2 years ago, I wouldn't have known any better either. Yorkietalk has given me an education on yorkies...that and the library (really:rolleyes:) of books I own and read before I got Copper. I am like one of the other posters who said they don't know if it is worth it to go into it. I usually just say, "No, he is a standard yorkie." I just leave it at that. (In my head, I would just love to say..."No, he is a miniature pit bull...watch out!!:D) I had to laugh at the ankle biting post...Copper does like to grab my pant leg as I'm going upstairs. He holds it all the way up. I just laugh and thank him for helping me up the stairs!:) |
I think most of our little babies are treated better than most children. My girls see they get routine medical care, they have their little outfits and bows, I dress them up for halloween every year. They get bday and christmas gifts. I don't have any children of my own only my step kids. I get remarks all the time. My favorite comback about their size is they don't know their small so watch out they think their dobermans. I have the oldest trained to growl when she hears that. She sounds like an attack dog. The comments stop at that point. When people pick on their out fits my comback is at least they have good fashion sense. I don't let it get to me anymore My baby Abbie is 4 mints and weighs in a whole 2 lbs 9 oz. I get asked all the time if I am sure she is not a cat. I also love the fact that my girls have pink vest and leashes and little dress on an people ask me if they are boys are girls. I give have this very confussed look I give them and say I put my boys in pink to be funny and people beleive me I don't treat my girls like they are dogs. They are my kids. I can't stand when I hear about abuse cases and puppy meals. I think is so cruel and evil to keep any dog tied outside with limited interaction or love. That is just so wrong. There is a family down the street that does this with their dogs it was almost 90 degrees here today and they were tide up in the heat I |

Mollie is hilarious with it. She will also make her growl of terror at the word cute and little when people want to pet her because she is so tiny and harmless. She would never hurt anyone she doesn't like being called little |
We took Mina to a motorcycle event and a guy that I dont particularly care for said that he was moving to another chair to sit, because he couldnt stand to hear me talking to a dog. All I could think was "is that all it took to get you to move away from me?". Other than that noone was rude about her fluffy dresses or stroller. I am the patch lady for this small gathering so I see everyone. |

I think it is how they say it that gets me. Or making any negative remarks. There are breeds of dogs that are not my first choice but I would not put anyone down for having that breed.. I saw someone with the cutest dog oh around 15 pounds.. I asked what breed? They said yorkie .. I felt so bad.. I really did not mean any harm. I just said oh.. If I had looked I would have "seen" the yorkie I am just not good at reconizing breeds..he is so cute I bet you just loved him!! I hope that took the "sting" out of asking in the first place. Now I don't ask.. just say "what a cute dog" |
I hate when random ppl on the street tell me Yorkie's arent supposed to have tails! DOGS have tails... they just happened to not dock Winnies!! Beside.. I love her tail! |
