I know that I will be very picky on where Molly goes. This dog has been through the mill and back and she deserves only the best. I would not place her with a family that has young children because of her eye sight and no steps either. I guess it all depends on the dog. In my opinion , most rescues are just looking out for the animal they are placing and want to be sure it goes to the best possible home. |
You kno, honestly sometimes I get carried away when it comes to military things. Its usually one of those things I avoid discussing bc I know I do that. DvlshAngel985, you are right. I am doing what I am saying not to do. I know not all shelters are like that. I volunteered at one as part of my internship. They were a high kill shelter. They absolutly denied ppl for being military and for other reasons I thought were absurd. I guess I should say why is it that some high kill shelter are so difficult to adopt from. Most rescues I have seen and been involved with put a lot of time and energy in the animals they rescue. It def is their call who they think deserves their animals. Although again, if denied for being military I think its wrong. But all other reasons I see perfectly reasonable. However, no two rescues are alike and no two shelters are alike. I agree fully with that. I've said my peace about military and pets and I will stand by that. But I def see your point and it is not my place to judge other shelters based on the one or two I'm talking about. :) |

Well since it was me who offered a justification for why rescues would not prefer military personnel (FYI most of them were young & single in my experience) let me say that's what is was: not an advocacy for denying all military persons. Nothing more than what I saw myself, like I said, I have children in my home and was denied: for that very reason. I've been there and can honestly say personally I would on a whole general bias situation be more concerned about children in the home than military issues coming up. |
