No one told me teaching new tricks would bring me such pride and joy That they know when someone isnt home and should be (yest was working late and she would not rest or sleep til i got home) That they can be picky little eaters, she even seperated kibble and helped me learn which one she likes better That innocent look in their eyes can warm your soul on your worst day |

lola does this when we are parked lol!!! |
lol This is all so cute. I was always a cat person. But this little Yorkie girl has me loving dogs. :D I never knew I wouldn't mind cleaning a furry butt and stinky gunky eyes. lol My son just stepped into a "surprise" last night while getting into the shower. Instead of grossing out, he thought it was hilarious. lol |

No one told me about the "cling ons" due to me having long hair:rolleyes::eek:, and the fact that it's terrifying her. Sometimes she'll start walking so fast & be jerking around, but it's not obvious why so I think something's really wrong. I'll go to check her for pain, etc. & find something else! No one told me I'd love her so much I'd do anything to keep her safe & happy, regardless of the consequences for me. Yes, I did read they follow you, but I never knew I'd never get to close the bathroom door again...which does make her mad when we have company. |

Omg mine does that too!! hahahah That is too funny! |
I never knew I would be buying "baby wipes" again in BULK for little moments like you had with Scarlett.:D Or, that I would be coming on YT to find out where the poops went and why Bella:animal36Boo's breath wasn't smelling so sweet...and how to stop her appetite for her new found delicacy......gag! Or, that I would be talking so much baby talk...after having an empty nest! Or, that I would buy 3 car seats for their traveling safety, comfort & of course so, that they can look out their windows in the back seat to do their own "back seat driving"...lol! :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork Or, that I would make sure I stopped to get their food above all else on my list of things to do. Or, that I would put their grooming needs above mine...they are groomed weekly and I get my hair done every 8-10 weeks! Or, that they would take over my lingerie chest with drawers of their own for ALL their clothes! Or, that my patience would be tried time and time again...only to be suckered in with that cute tilt of their heads that just seem to be saying, "huh?"..."what, me?"..."I didn't do that!"..."she did it!":D Those are just a few off the top of my head but, there is oh, so much more...but, I don't want to spoil it for you with Scarlett...and will let you be surprised like most of us have been!:p |
No one ever told me that my dainty little girls farts could clear a room or that if I don't watch carefully Bubba will use my rug to wipe his butt. |

We obviously have the same dog in different bodies lol. I swear you just described Max! |
I have never been a dog lover although I do like dogs. I've wanted a Yorkie for the past few years and finally got one. Before getting my baby girl I said the dog will not sleep in or on the bed, will not lay on the sofa, will not be treated like a baby because it is an animal. Well, well, well! No one ever told me that this yorkie puppy would completely steal my heart. She is allowed on my bed sometimes, she always cuddles next to me on the sofa, and I do carry her sometimes because she is my little bundle of joy. I clean her butt (No One Ever Told Me About That) and make sure her eyes stay nice and clean just like I do with my skin babies. I am so in love with mine. I get excited to see someone else with a yorkie because I think they MUST feel exactly the way I do having Ladybug in my life! |

no one told me about REM sleep and that my princess would almost look like she was having a seizure when i brought her home and her eyes would roll back into her head with the whites showing. i thought she was dying and she was just sleeping the vet said. oh the things you learn! and two years later i'm still occasionally cleaning up poop and pee and butts get cleaned and when they are sick it's a mess and they just can't help it. poor dears. and no one tells you how much love you have for those tiny faces with the dark eyes when they kiss and snuggle and hug on you. |

Gizmo sits on my shoulders to watch TV and while we are parked in the car when picking up my son also. He also likes the windows down. |

That's sooo funny.... No one ever told me that such horrible smells could come out of something so tiny and cute!! Like I've always said she's rotten on the inside and sweet as sugar on the outside!!:animal36 |

I have one bottle of shampoo for myself ----- No one ever told me my fur baby would have a whole shelf of grooming products that make my one bottle look so lame :D |

That is funny, my new Bailey puppy does the same thing, I was thinking just today how in the world I will manage to drive when he is bigger... lol |
No one ever told me how that cute little face would completely have me in love. I swear, Jack is like my son. I have never had so much love for an animal before as I do for Jack. No one ever told me that a cute little thing like him could totally smell worse than my husband. Feed him the wrong treat and its over! LOL Or that I would be grooming a dog once a week (including expressing anal glands - gross!) |
That they are velcro dogs.:D |
Tee Hee! I just love reading all of your replies!!! :) |
No one ever told me that I'd secretly (from dh) order hair products and purses for my girls. Not to mention the prices Id pay for those things. Or that Id buy them an armoire for their clothes and that I'd spend way than I'd ever think of spending for myself. Or how quickly I'd freak out when I seen my new baby having runny poops. This thread is so cute!!! |
All of these posts are so true! No one ever told me that I'd fall so completely in love that not only do the pups need their own complete wardrobes, accessories, multiple beds, blankets, etc, but I also now must buy all manner of Yorkie decorations, knickknacks, etc. God help you if you ever enter Yorkie into the search on E-Bay! Also, no one ever told me that a little Yorkie with a case of diarrhea could cause as much worry and fear as when my skin kid is sick. No one ever told me that I would be willing to go without and spend all my money just to make my babies more comfortable or a little happier. |
Oh my gosh! I am sitting here reading these going oh my gosh! These ladies are just like me! :D So much in common!! No one ever told me that my furbutt would love to chase squirrels and cows. Which required me to climb a barb wire fence, jump off from the top, totally pull my muscle in my leg while my jeans get caught on the barb wire, frantically screaming her name as she runs, tears running down my face, while the neighbors think I have completely lost my marbles!! :D As I finally get her, instead of being mad, my heart is completely full of love that my little girl was safely back in my arms. Now, who would have reacted that way had it been their kid? :p I can honestly say I never ever thought I would love my pups like they are my kids. (Empty nest syndrome?) Lol. |

Oh, I forgot one! No one ever told me that I would buy pajamas for my doggies. Or that I would spend time explaining to my loved ones how necessary pj's are since they don't have a double coat. |
This thread is soooo awesome, I can relate to each and every post, my goodness is is not the most amazing thing that here on Yorkie Talk, this is the one place in the world where it does not matter what color you are..or where you live..or how much money you have or don't have...or weather you are male or female...we are each and every one of us...'''The Exact Same''. We share a common bond and that is our fur-kids with whom we collectively believe to be the most important thing in our world. How awesome is that.... As for me...Nobody ever told me that I would carry baby wipes with me on walks so that I can do the butt cleaning ad well. And nobody mentioned to me that I would ever take my bare hand and gently wiggle poop from my babies little butt because he was having trouble finishing his poop....or that I would ever have a dog in my bed..or that my dog is not a dog at all but my baby. Awesome Awesome thread! Cynthia & Gizmo:yelrotflm |
