I know how you feel - I hate leaving my pup, even just for a couple of days. My preference is a house sitter or dog sitter that you know and trust. I usually have my brother watch the little munchkin for me, though my parents have also kept him a couple of times and my best friend has watched him once. Levi is familiar with all of them, sees them regularly, and behaves well for them. The thing that makes me most uncomfortable about vet boarding is they spend all day in a kennel, and only get walked 2-3 times per day. Levi prefers to go out every 4 hours, but he can hold it for about 6. A couple of short walks per day would not work at all for him, plus he prefers to have social interaction. I hate the thought of him kenneled all alone for days on end. Doggie day cares may provide socialization and fun, but they make me nervous for an extended stay - especially if it's somewhere you've only been to a few times. |

I only board Sophie Kate at her Vet which is usually about twice a year. Sophie Kate is very comfortable with her Vet and the Vet Techs since she has stayed there since she was 3 months old (I have a job that requires business travel but mostly day trips). I feel much more comfortable with her staying at the Vets office and she is walked every four hours (except at night ). The girl who is the receptionist tends to spoil Sophie Kate and gets her out during the day. |
Problem solved... funny how things have a way of working out. My son's best friend is moving back from Branson at the end of Nov. He is going to house/Brutus sit for us. He is here now visiting for a few days and came over last night to meet Brutus. No boarding. |

This is who watching Annie when we have to leave her. She goes home with the Vet Tech at night and then gets to come back to work with her the next morning. It has worked out great for us. Good luck. I am sure it will all work out fine. :D |
