I am a purebred Yorkshire Terrier. Pardon my appearance, maybe you didn't recognize me. I've been so busy making babies and it's hard to stay pretty when you live in filth and never bathe. Maybe you know one of my children, there are hundreds of them out there in the world. I know not where. They were taken from me so young. I hope they have forgotten me, anyway, and this horrible place I can never leave, this tiny cage with its wire floor is my world, I have never left it, it all I know. Is there something else? I know this cage, I know loneliness, I know fear, I know pain, I know sickness, I know hunger, I know thirst...I know I make babies. That's all I know. Is there more? Why are you here? I only know humans mean hurt. What do you mean help? What is Kindness? What is love? What is there beside what I know? Will you show me? Will you not forget me here? I want to know what else there is beside this hell I live in. Help me please, I can not help myself. :unlove:

I saw this on FB this morning Jodi and it made me cry. It makes my blood boil to think any of God's creatures can be treated this way. I hope everyone takes the time to write their elected officials about this bill.

There is a puppy mill about an hour south of me.. I wish I could just go get the dogs and find them homes. I know for a fact they have at least 200 breeding dogs.. several different breeds. I was there a few years ago. The dogs are fed and watered and bathed and clipped but they still live in small wire bottom cages and are used as puppy factories:(

Now, I heard the lady opeend a pet shop and is selling her mill puppies from the pet shop:(

It's just heartbreaking to even think of the living hell so many have to live through to make puppies. When it comes time to buy that next puppy do your homework. Visit the breeder and don't just assume just because there are cute pictures available for you to look at everything is fine and they are reputable. Visit the home and see with your own eyes! Do you think the place where this little one came from said "here's the momma of your puppy" and offered up this picture? Of course not! Someone who could do this to ANY animal is the scum of the earth and will lie through their teeth to make $$$$$ :thumbdown

There could even be people right here on YT that are doing this for all that we know. Just think about it for a second and answer this question.......

I've talked to people that "thought" their breeder was great but then too far after the purchase they find out the dirty truth. Then what? Just take a look at the Sick and Injured Forum and all of the sick puppies. It's BUYER BEWARE!

200 dogs for breeding is HUGE! She has got to be shipping them all over plus her pet shop. Makes me sick!

Maddie was in a place like that when they found her. I Thank God everyday she was to young to have been breed yet. She has a deformity on her toes on a paw from the wire cage that she was kept in. It breaks my heart every time i look at it. She also has a pellet or BB on her shoulder under the skin (the xray showed us what it was). God only knows why someome would shoot her??? I feel it everytime i pet her and it hurts me so bad when i look into her eyes..and wonder what shes been thru. Im just glad she and many others were taken away from that place.
When i adopted her from the rescue, she was so scared of everything, as well as super shy and Terrifed of men. She didnt know what love was, or a toy or even what grass felt like under her feet. Shes now is a healthy,loving silly little girl. shes not afraid of my husband anymore and she loves her toys and playing outside. She is my baby she knows it. Its taken alot of time and love to get her to this point. And sometimes i wonder if she remebers that place not so long ago. I only hope shes forgotten it, but i know she hasnt.

The thought of everything they go through just makes me sick. Those poor babies are nothing but money makers. They don't know love or anything. It just breaks my heart. :(

maddieadoptedme, I read that and my eyes are just filled with tears. I am so glad that you ended up with her. And that she is able to have a loving life like she deserves.

I just think that that's what Gizmo's Momma was in, and it makes me sick. How could anyone look at those poor little faces and not just break down?

My user name on here is how Maddie makes me feel, shes allowed me to become part of her life. I truley feel she adopted me to love her forever.
It just breaks my heart to know there are many others out there that are in the same place and worse. People that do this to animals should have to live the life the same way that they have forced these poor animals to live.

I never have understood how people can be so cruel. I just don't get it. :( It is so sad. These things really bother me. My sister makes a joke about me all the time. She says if I could bring them all home with me I would. And you know what, she is right. I would. I love the user name. Isn't it funny how it seems that you are in the right place at the right time. You and Maddie were meant to be.

I honestly don't understand how people could be so greedy and treat animal with cruelty just to make a buck :( it breaks my heart.

Oh my! This is just heartbreaking! I too just do not understand people who can do this to any living creature. It's just the worst thing imaginable!!! So sad!

Yep, she sales to a broker too.:( Then the brokers are the one's that ship to pet shops. :(

I knew a girl who worked at a pet shop in Evansville, IN. She walked out on her job because she refused to "take care" of the puppies on display "the way the manager of the store said"
She told me that store rules were to only feed & water the puppies AFTER the store closed. this way the puppies would do their eating, drinking, pooping, peeing and playing at night time. The pens could be cleaned before opening and would stay clean while the store was open. the puppies would be sleepy during the day and when people were looking at the puppies they would pay attention to them, bark and act cute because they were hoping to get food from the people :(

She said it was terrible. She also said puppies would come in and then get sick within a couple of days. She was only there a month or so... she refused to stay there as an employee.

This was several years ago.. not sure if that pet shop even still sales puppies but they are still open.

Also.. to add... She said the pet shop "doubled" on the price of the puppy. So a $1500 price meant they had paid $750 from the broker.

I know the lady down south sells to a broker. I wonder how much they're getting for these mill puppies?

I got Remy from a "home" breeder.. recommended by my vet. I know it was not the best place in that she did not breed show dogs.. but I was in her home and saw the clean loving place the dogs had. I also knew a lot of mutual friends-- so I know Remy has only had love her whole life. Next dog I get..I want to save a dog .. love a dog that has not had love!!

There's 2 senators for CA so do I write to both? I can't find the representatives...or are senators the representatives? There's apparently two classes...what is that? I'm not familiar with the government classification system...Also, do you have a template of what to write...? I want to send a letter to support PUPS ACT, but unsure of exactly what to write. Thanks! (Sorry for so many questions...)

Done. Our local clubs always have something going to earn money for the animals and we try to educate the public about Puppy Mills. The majority of people have no idea.

Dick Durbin from Illinois introduced PUPS Act 2011. Please contact your U.S. senator(s) and U.S. representative(s) by calling or mailing a letter. I can't imagine why a politican would not sign this bill but who knows.

This breaks my heart! I'm so glad Maddie is in such a wonderful home. She deserves nothing less!

Oh My how I would love to cage this breeder!! I see that picture and I come to tears as I feel sick enough to throw up!

I get ...."the crazy dog lady"....LOL....because I cry when i see the commercials of mistreated dogs....etc.....I have such a big heart for children and animals because they are taken advantage of because they have no voice! I want to be that voice for them!!:animal36

This just breaks my heart every time I read things like this. My late Audrey who is the 1st Yorkie I adopted came from a place like this. She was 8 yerars when I adopted her. Her whole body inside was just a mess when the Rescue Group took her in for her Spay and Dental. Her uterus was such a mess it was just falling a part. She had no teeth left after the dental was done. When I first brought her home, she just paced in perfect square about the size of the cage she was in, it was just heart breaking. She was always on edge. She Dx's with heart problems a month after I adopted her. I was able to have 4 wonderful years with her before she passed. She was my joy. My 2nd Annie was only 2 yrs when the Rescue Group got her out of the Mill, she was skin and bones only weighed 4 pouns and should have been 8 pounds. She had Liver problems her life that I had her. I just lost her this past New Years Eve. My Tee Tee was 8 years old when I adopted him.He was a stud dog in the mill.
He had his problems as well. I only had him 4 short years before he passed in 2006 due to seizure Disorder.
Oh my could go on and on.

You are such a kind, good soul. I'm glad there are wonderful fur moms out there like you.
