I am gald the dental went well. And I think it is a very good idea to have the bllodwork come back first before a spay. It is hard to have to go through all this again , but know that your baby will be ok is worth the wait. It would be really bad if they went ahead and spayed her without the results. |
What's to think about? You are being a responsible pet owner and not contributing to the overpopulation of more Yorkies... I'd reschedule and never think twice about it;) |
How did they get the bloodwork for the dog getting the dental? |

Is this your normal vet? Maybe you would feel better if you asked them these whys? I am afraid I would be upset about leaving my baby there all day. But then again, I would be very glad that they didn't do it without the blood work. I would be upset that the blood work was not done before the dental if I was told it would be. With that said, I am sorry you have to worry for two more weeks. But getting her spay done is the right thing to do. Hopefully, the two weeks will fly by, her spay will be done and over with, and everything will go back to normal. Glad to hear Riley is doing well!! |
I always have the labs done a day or two before procedures. Another reason for doing this is it is cheaper!! If my vet does them in house it is much higher than sending them out. |

Could someone who knows about medical norms please comment. When my doggies have dentals my Vet always does labs about 3 days before. I know unless it was an Emergency surgery she (my Vet) would do tests before putting them under anesthesia. Thank You |

Yes this is a vet I have used for years. My daughter actually worked for him for like three years. Love the work he usually does. And he is very good and careful with surgeries. Of course I live in a small town and if it was any serious issues I would have to go somewhere else. They do not have all the fancy equipment. I do not understand why he did not do blood work on Riley. But thank goodness he is fine and back to himself this morning. Lily will hopefully be spayed on the 11th. Unless she comes into heat early. Thank you all so much for understanding my frustration. |
I would think, since it was there fault the surgery is delayed, that they could have tweaked their schedule to be more accommodating......two weeks wait, is unacceptable! |
Yes I asked to do it next week and he has class so he is out of the office. They have to take so many classes a year to keep up on things. Which is good. But bad for me. I did take Lexi to a different clinic to be spayed as she was older and he did not feel comfortable doing her. Was not really impressed by the other vet she actually caught a virus while there and had to have more medicine. Not blaming them but would like my vet to do the surgery. I will just pray we do not have a early heat cycle... |
The reason I would be irritated is that she should have only been put to sleep ONCE to have both things done. Now she will have to be sedated twice and you also will most likely pay for it twice. |
