We walk past Klondike's house on our long walks and one day I didn't even realize it until we were past her house that she had been laying literally in the middle of her driveway. She has an electric fence. She didn't even raise her head when I and my neighbor with her 2 yorkies walked past her. She is very easy going.

				 | Sooooo scary! Especially when there is THREE of them- Yikes! I agree, you did the right thing. I've had this happen twice w/ Jackson, in two different occasions with two different Labs. Both were not aggressive, per say. Overly friendly would be more like that, and NO doggy manners. This one Lab literally just pummeled over Jackson and would NOT get off him, he was not biting, but it was so scary when you feel helpless, even if it's for all of 30 seconds! I am glad Maggie May is ok.

				 | Glad to hear that Maggie is alright. You did the right thing by getting her out of there when you were able. We had a bernese mountain dog puppy run across the street after Trixie last year when we were walking her...the bernese was super friendly, but even as a puppy her front paws were on my shoulders when she was trying to get a peek at Trixie. Needless to say, Trixie was scooped up before the bernese got near her, but I don't walk Trixie alone ever.....I'm too afraid. Have a nice glass of wine or a cup of tea and rub Maggie May's little belly tonight.

Oh Lawdy.....I know how you felt. My neighbhor has 2 saint bernards both of them are least 135lbs. My neighbhor normally has excellent control of them while they are their leash and the male st bernard is always well behaved when he sees Brandi but his sister is much younger and more playful. So whenever she sees Brandi she immediately gets excited. Well this one day she manage to break away from her owner who took off right after Brandi. Fortunaley I saw her coming scooped her up in my arms and just turn my back to the st. bernard. I was basically trying to hide her by turning my back. Her owner as able to get to her before she got to us but I was so scared for Brandi. So scared in fact that I was willing to risk getting injured to protect her. But even with all of that, I kinda of knew Annabelle (the female st bernanrd) just want to play with Brandi and felt that she would not hurt her intentionally. It was just her sheer size. It is so true that it only takes a few seconds. Those st bernards are not vicious and appear to be well trained but you can never take for granted that they won't intentionally hurt someone. | This is why I never let my dogs around large dogs, no matter how gentle they appear. When we are walking if I see people with their large dogs, I pick up my dogs and cross the street. I don't even want to be on the same sidewalk with them. I would never want to see my little dogs be in fear of some oversized monster.

				 | What a scare!! I'm glad Maggie is alright!! Give her lots of extra hugs, kisses and belly rubs!! It's nice to hear for once big dogs getting loose and not attacking. She still could have easily gotten hurt by their sheer size but atleast they weren't acting aggressively. So many aren't trained well and do act aggressively and it ends badly for our little ones. All the newfies I have met are all just big happy babies. It's their sheer size that can cause damage though. Poor Maggie, I hope she isn't too traumatized by it all, she must have been so scared, I know I would have been. They must look like giant monsters to her. I'm so glad no one got hurt.

				 | EVERY time the owner of a bigger dog (20+) lbs tells me that their baby wont hurt my little Mina, they just want to play. I tell them very politely that I understand that they trust their dog,but I dont know them and havent spent enough time with them to trust them around my 5lb dog. Hopefully they will not be to offended. Mina lives with a 65lb dog that I do trust,he is 15yrs old and without him I would not of been able to train the other dogs here as easily. However if a friend was going to visit with another small dog,2bits would need to be in another room. I do love all dogs but am not willing to take a chance. |

				 | I'm so glad everything turned out so well. Once a few years ago while my husband was in Iraq, I always took his jack russell for his morning walk. I did this one morning like I always had, and on the way back, out pops a black lab, he had always been tied up, but this one morning he wasn't and was at the street, hiding at the front of the car that was parked on the street. I didn't see him until it was too late. He had Champ in his mouth. There was nothing I could do! All the screaming wasn't going to persuade him to let go. His mouth was so big it went from one side of Champ to the other! I had to kick the dog underneath and knock the breathe out of him long enough to get Champ out of his mouth! I got him and ran! Luckily it was just 2 houses from mine. I noticed the puncture wounds that champ had and knew it was bad, he was passing out as we got home. I called the vet, told them I was on the way! Luckily it's a 5 min drive. He was lucky because I got him there so quickly and got him on antibiotics so quickly. He recovered but I was terrified to take our walks again. The following day, I made an agreement that if I paid the vet bill, the neighbor would get rid of her lab so this would not happen to another person's dog, as we all take our dogs for walks and it could have been any of us. That was one of the scariest days of my life. I knew if Champ died while Duane was in Iraq it would kill him. |

				 | oh my! I'm glad that everything turned out okay and that Maggie didn't get hurt. I hope the newfies mom is okay. She must of been scared, hurt, and embarrassed all in one. I need to start taking Ahi for walks but afraid to because all dogs are bigger than her. The one time that I tried all she wanted to do was lick the ground..ewww.
