That is just a really sick person in my book. What kind of neighbor would take that amount of money for reuniting a family's beloved pet...aren't neighbors supposed to look out for each other, thank goodness mine do. Disgusting! On a positivie note, soooo happy that you got your baby back, a Yorkie mom's worst nightmare to lose her baby. |
Thanks everyone for all the love and support and also for being mad at the wicked witch down the street. I knew you would all be mad at her with me! Lol.:p I am so grateful Callie is home safe.:animal36 I tell her every night how lucky We are to have her back. She was only gone about 12 hours total but it was terrible. My heart breaks for those who have lost a baby and didn't find them. |
Karma can be a .... well what that nasty woman is! I would make sure ALL the neighbors know what she did one way or another. If someone will do this, no telling what else the people in their house would do. One day she is going to need something and I hope she remembers this. You can't beat great neighbors, one of mine saved my husbands life last summer and got us through the next couple months of recovery. I have taken care of their animals while they are out of town or working for the last eleven years - we work TOGETHER, life is hard enough. And it may be petty of me but I would take sweet little Callie to piddle on her grass every single day. I hope she feels the guilt every time she looks at her! |
So Happy you were able to get Callie back :) & as for the lady you got her back from, I would report her, because unless she is so elderly that you know she really can't hear or seem to read for that matter , I think she knew it was your dog, she's only four houses down & the NERVE to even the take the reward money !!!! |
PTL you have precious Callie back!!! :( about the 'neighbor' and the reward :( Like you however, I would have paid anything to get her back - just so very sad. Give Callie some extra huggs from us  |
im glad you got your baby back, but wow, that seems like a dognapping to me.. but alls well that ends well |
This person knew full well she had your dog as I would imagine she has seen you out waking your little one. What a total bitch she was for accepting(stealing) your money. She will get what's coming to her. Her kind ALWAYS do. |
Thank goodness she is back with you, but did you say that neighbor just put her in the yard? Was she outside the whole time? Poor baby! Maybe you shouldn't have put the amount of the award on the poster and then you could have handed her $5 instead of $500! Shame on her! I'm so glad you have Callie back with you! |
oh,wow, the nerve of some people.. I also belive in karma, what goes around comes around, she would spend that money with nothing to show for, she DID not earn that money.. so happy Callie is back home with you... |
I think its rotten too but so glad you have her back! |
OMG  So glad you got her back, but that neighbor, good heavens what an awful person she is. I think if you hadn't posted that $500 reward, she would have sold your baby to make the money:( I hope SHE never needs anything, humphf!!!!!!!! |
I know it was a long 12 hours, but so glad you got your Callie back safely. It’s unbelievable act of your neighbor and it upsets us to hear, but she could have rehomed Callie with more money. Now it’s time to learn how to train our dogs to respond when we call their names. My dogs don’t respond when I call them either. Does anyone know how to train them to respond in verbal when we call them? |
I cannot believe I'm just reading this post. I'd have just hopped her fence, immediately after the call, and no I cannot believe anyone would actually take the money. "neighbor" is right I have other names but I can't use them on here;):banned::bigeyes: Edit: look up recall training use super yummy treats & lots o'praise, I have one that fails recall too |
I was just sharing this story with "the boy" we have decided this lady is seriously evil for several basic moral issues we can stand behnd ourselves. 1. If you live 4 door down you are semi obligated to a friendliness in the neighbors category period. 2. We have found several "free running" dogs ourselves and immediately went door to door or in a couple cases right to their door because we knew who's dog we had or wanted immediately to return the dog home. Neighbor escape artist french bull dog is outside my front door at least once a month either his people come looking in my front yard when he goes missing or we find him and promptly escort him home. NEVER would any compensation be asked other than the owner remembering to close the dog door from the yard to garage when they leave the big garage door open... 3. The collar could not have been missed.Reward posters shouldn't have even have been a factor here. 4. Who accepts any payment: we agreed if you have cared for a dog for a certain time period you should be somewhat compensated for your effort or expenses (especially if you offer emergency care of any expense to yourself). But really taking any money for a dog you in the least most likely didn't even feed and only "harbored" for a few hours makes her such a greedy person. 5. Obviously she will continue to see you and your dog and that should be reward enough: knowing you got a furbaby home. 6. Obviously many dog look similar and can be mistaken for another by an unfamiliar eye-seriously who finds a known to all desirable breed (known to people here to be stolen a lot) and just returns it to someone without verifying...like reading the collar... |
Hey Girl! First, I am soooo HAPPY that Callie is home in yr arms!! I'm just sorry that you both had to go through this scary ordeal. It is just beyond comprehension that yr neighbor just stuck Callie in her backyard & only said that she was shaking. YES, she was scared......crazy lady. This lady is shady. First thing I would have done was check the lost dog out. Comforted her & "checked for collor & info". I'm with you though......so worth the $500. Who knows what would have happened to Callie if $$$ were not in the picture for this lady. HUGS HUGS HUGS to you & Callie!!!!! |
I agree with Denzilla...I'm guessing she knew the dog belonged to you. She must not be an animal lover, because how could you not notice the collar and return her to her mommy. I am just so happy that you got her back! I bet she was scared of that evil woman! |
So glad you were able to get Callie back and it appears that your neighbor has horns hidden underneath her hair. I do not blame you for being furious at your neighbor. I am right there with you. |
Ha, I would told my "neighbor" to eff off, that there was no way she didn't see the tag and phone number or here my yelling for my dog outside her house. I'd give her $100 to get off my property before I slapped her a new one. That's just me though. You're neighbor knew exactly what she was doing... holding the dog until the reward posters came out. Glad it was her and not some jerk that would sell her or keep her though and now your lil girl is safe with mom! |
I'm sorry but the first thing I look at if there's a dog I do not know is obviously their tag. I feel like that is what anyone would look at. This lady is weird. I mean I don't want to judge but I'm sorry, actions speak louder than words. If my neighbor's dog was lost, especially a cute baby like Callie, I wouldn't even bother taking the money. I definitely could use it but having that baby in my presence and being able to get her back to her family would be more than enough for me. pshh some people. |
I am so glad Callie is back with you. I think this neighbor is creepy. Just like when they hit the mailbox and then tried to hide the evidence she knew the dog was yours and should have just returned it. They obviously can not be trusted to do the right and honorable thing. I would just mention they story to other neighbors and let it drop that she had the dog in her yard the whole time everyone was searching and that she claimed the ransom. |
It's wonderful that you have her back home with you. She's a pathetic example for a neighbor. That's pathetic. I'm so sorry she did that to you, but you're right. It's worth it to have your lil girl home with you. |
My twin boys (almost 10; neutered; missing teeth) - were stolen from my home during a home burglary.....I feel your pain. I highly dislike your 'neighbor'.....will you please visit Find Baxter & Cooper | Facebook and 'like' to help me spread the word....so glad you got your baby back. |

www.petamberalert.com If you get the full alert package they will notify all persons who subscribe to pet amber alert (also on FB), many vet's worldwide use this and have missing fliers displayed in their offices as well many pet stores and other retailers display these missing posters in their stores and on their web site via links. Really great way to get the word out. Include their microchip information if they were microchipped. |

Our world has gone to hell in a handbasket and it sickens me. If I were your neighbor and your dog had a tag on it I would never have taken a reward. Did she even act embarrassed? Like others have said, KARMA. |
So happy Callie is home.......I'm still praying that my babies will be returned....My reward has increased (with the help of crime stoppers) up to $10,000. www.facebook.com/findbaxterandcooper.......shame, shame, shame on your neighbor.......I think I'll refer to 'her' as the person who lives near you. A 'neighbor' would NOT act as she did.........I am so sick of evil people!!! Will you please give your baby a kiss from me..... |
So happy Callie is back with you. I believe she did see the tag on Callie. But keep an eye on that "neighbor" |
I cannot believe a so-called "neighbor" would take ANY money from you - or anyone to bring their dog back. Seems like that is something a person owes another person - to return anything to them that they may have found and held onto, with hopes of returning it to the owner as a simple gesture of human kindness. How can one take money for the simple act of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"? Your neighbor's idea of the Golden Rule is highly attached to the gold part, it seems. And yes, it sounds purposeful to this observer. |
I'm glad you got Callie back, but I agree I think it's ransom. If Callie's tag had fallen off I could understand but I am sure she knew the address since she lives that close to you. Do you think maybe she planned on keeping Callie or selling her but got nervous? I saw on the news a few months ago there has been an increase in theft of purebreeds especially small sizes during this economy. She probably intended to sell Callie or hold her for the reward money. It's sad. People don't realize that pets are actually family members but then again maybe they do. So thats why the steal them. Don't worry that lady will lose $500 and more in some fashion. |
