I love reading all the post of how you all have gotten your dogs. Thanks for all the replies. We are obviously all serious animal lovers here :) I think we all would save any life we could. I have had the privilege of fostering and rehoming so many dogs and kittens, it can be expensive, but it is sooooo worth it in the end. |
MIne are both rescues. Tink was DUMPED on the side of the road and I nice lady found her. She had a yorkie and her yorkie DID NOT care for little Tink. We call her Tink becasue she is SOO small and reminded my daughter of a tinker toy... Peanut is a rescue from a breeder that could not use him anymore??? So, I bought him from her and he came with his name. I will only rescue from now on. They are the best. |
I told my story about Willbe earlier, but here are the 4 I have now: Rubin purchased as puppy from a show breeder in Ohio, has CT and is 8 years old. Gracie is a rescue and going on 3 years old. Ginny Joy purchased from a breeder (who is still breeding my old line from Noah) Abba was pick of the litter for a stud fee, from my sisters stud, she gave him to me for my birthday. All are great stories but, maybe I should write a book and not express my monomania about dogs here ! :) |
Rosie was given to me from my Sister in Law who was a breeder at the time. She came to me in perfect health and condition. No complaints there at all. I didn't pay anything for her except the cost of having her spay and final shots at the vet. They were planning on keeping her to breed but decided that they would give her to me instead. Oh my God I am so glad they did. She is the light of my life. I love her so much. She was in the house with them but I have turned her into a little diva. :) Mikki was purchased/rescued in my opinion. Yes I paid for her but at the same time I felt like I rescued her from her prior life and future life. I bought her at a cheap price. I felt she was rescued because 1) she was not spayed and at 3 1/2 lb I was fearful someone would want to breed her and 2) she was not living the best life in the world. She was dirty and starving for attention. Her owner loved her I think but other significant others in the family didn't feel the same way. We feel that she has been hit in her previous life. She was terrified of men. Well, until she met my DH who adores her! So yes, I think I rescued her. Now, we are working really hard on making her a diva too! |
