I have to say, I have yet to experience a boy marker who needed to wear belly bands. As a dog walker, all the dogs I walk are boys. Rottweiler, Cocker Spaniel, Boston mix, Black Lab, Pit Bull, and actually all of them except the Pit squat but the Pit does not mark indoors. Jackson only marks outdoors at parks, etc, but still squats normally to pee and never marks inside. |

I am struggling to decide to add another yorkie as well, I love my boy but want a girl too. I've never had two dogs at once so I'm very nervous. I think Kaos would really enjoy a little friend, but I haven't decided yet either. |
You definitely would love to add a sibling.:) |
Adding a sibling for me allowed me to see a side of Cooper's personality that I would never have otherwise known. My little man is now an alpha dog and part of a pack. He's so very caring and loving to Max, yet he's such an obnoxious brother. The relationship built between 2 dogs is something that I think every pet owner should experience. They play together all day long, sleep together and are inseparable. With that being said 2 are much harder than 1! I don't really take them places like I did when I had only 1 dog (working on that with a trainer). Everything is much more expensive (food, vets, toys, clothing). And if you are a paranoid doggy mom like me it's also double the worry. I couldn't be happier with 2 dogs. I was very afraid that I would disrupt Cooper's world by bringing home a sibling. It's the best thing I ever did for him. |
I would say if you've thought about double the expense, double the trouble of finding vacation spots that take two dogs, and definitely double the worry. I would say, (of course I am biased) get a male to go along with your female. I also think it is a great suggestion to take your Yorkie on play dates and see how she interacts with the other doggies. But I believe that you should get another dog of what-ever gender because both you and your husband want another dog. Not because you think she would be happier with another dog in the house. |

We have 3. 2 males and a female and so far everyone loves each other. |
We had Rosie for 4 years before Mikki came into our life. If you remember my story, Mikki kinda fell into my lap. :D We had been battling about getting another Yorkie. I was trying to decide if that was what I wanted to do. And Mikki came along and I felt it was meant to be. At first, having two females I thought we might have made a mistake. My DH didn't want a male. He loved Rosie so of course he thinks females are the best. But we wouldn't trade Mikki for anything now. We still have our moments (we call them cat fights ); however, most of the time they get along. And I love watching them play together. There is nothing like hearing the clicking of their nails through the house as they chase each other. It is so sweet to hear. Yes, two is harder and more expensive. But it is also twice the Yorkie love! :) And who don't want that? Good luck with your decision. I know you would be the perfect family to add another. |
We are considering getting a second as well!! Teddy loves to play and I always feel bad he doesn't have a little buddy. Debating on the boy/girl dynamic. From "playdate" experience Teddy is much more playful with boy dogs and submissive with girl dogs. So we have some thinking to do. Still have to work on convincing the bf that we need a second! :) |
Oooh, I say go for it! I have my heart set on adding another yorkie one day but 1 Lab, a 7 month old Yorkie, 2 cats and a 6 year old are enough for me to handle right now, lol! |
We are also thinking about getting another yorkie to add to our clan. Right now we're still at the talking stage. We have a yorkie, a shorkie, and shih tzu and two basset hounds. Most of the time we say this is enough but everytime we see my friend's little yorkie Sabrina we get the urge again. We have 3 female dogs a shorkie, and two basset hounds. We have a male yorkie and another male shih tzu but we are thinking of a female yorkie. We have to give it some serious thought. |
Bevo was an only furbutt for over two years...since Mack came along, he has adjusted well and now adores him!!! I don't regret the decision at all!! And besides that, their personalities are so different. They both are rotten and lobe to be lap dogs, but little Mack is just a sweetheart!!! I'll never regret the decision to add to my fur family!! I still take them everywhere with me.... Two is my opinion is way better than one.... Of course now, we have three!!!! Yikes! |
