Smell..... So I have just noticed that my house stinks....:thumbdown My pups are not allowed in our bedroom and I have started to notice a smell....and it's not too good :( My hd is starting to get fed up.... I use febreese and the glad sprinkle stuff on my carpet and candles. I mean the pups are doing what I think is good potty training they pee and poop on the pads most of the time. Can someone please tall me how can I get rid of this smell?? Because it's making me kinda sick  and I don't like this smell at all! I know it has to be the dogies because my bed room dose't have the smell.....I bat my dogs and still smell it so it must be the carpet...Please share advice. |
Maybe rent one of those carpet cleaners at the super market? That's why I am glad to have hard wood floors... accidents are so much easier to clean up... |
Once in a while I need to use the glade powder for carpets. Just sprinkle the floor with it (I am very generous) leave it for five minutes and vaccume it up. Works for my apartment. :) |

When they have the occasional accident on the carpet, are you cleaning with an enzyme cleaner to get the smells out?? If not, it will definitely help. Is it a potty stench? Or more of a doggy or wet dog smell? Good luck! Viv |

Kaos only has that dog smell on occasion, but when he does I make sure to wash the bedding, and check the stuffed toys (might have to wash/toss them). Makes a huge difference for me. :) |
What are you feeding them? What treats and chews do you give them. This is totally out there but many times, what you feed them has a lot to do with their smell. You said Tibbers smells alot like it right?? When I 1st got my Snickers, he was eating (Nutro-GROSS!) and everyone that came over said our house smelled like dog and I noticed it too. I switched his food and no more smell. No joke! Now people say say my boys smell sweet or they smell like my perfume:) Viv |

Sorry I posted twice :s But they eat the science diet. They get the SD treats too. I washed the bedding and all toys today but I really think its in my carpet.... :( |
Where do you put the used pads? I got a Diaper Genie for Riley's used pads and there is No Smell in my place..... Do you think it could be that.... or do you think it is in the carpet?? Bissell has a Petbot type of carpet cleaner..... ?? |
I mean it may be the pee pads they are on the tile in the laundry room and kitchen. and I just put them in out trash. But I can smell it as soon as I walk from the bedroom into the living room. SO it makes me think its in the carpet since my living room and hall right out from my bedroom is carpet. |
If the dogs are stinky, good chance it's the food. Just my theory though! Hope you find a solution! :) V |
Whats a good food that makes them not smell? |

Before my parents brought me the diaper genie I could smell it as soon as I opened my front door.... I thought it was the carpet, but I have hardwood floors, so I would constantly be lifting it to see if there were any wet marks. LOL!! I now have one of the large purina second nature doggie Litter box with the pads in it so it doesn't leak through to the floor. I haven't smelled a thing since the diaper genie. |
I have been feeding Riley Primal Raw and he really doesn't ever smell. I think Vivian may also feed raw.... |

I'm feeding Riley Primal Raw and there are mornings, in bed when I literally hold him and breath deply in, cause he always smells sooo good!! LOL!!!!! |
Lol!!! The way you asked that was cute and funny. There are many!! Science Diet works out for many but how about: Acana Orijen Fromm Wellness Go!! Natures Logic Solid Gold Do your pups itch a lot? Treats with tons of additives and chemicals will give dogs that smell too like Dingo treats, Milkbones etc. Again....just my experience, I'm no expert Viv |
No they dont itch....and they only get a teat if they go poop where they are suppose to. |

Yes ma'am!!! Full raw feeder here!! Right now we use Bravo! Raw and Bravo raw freeze dried treats. But I think feeding high quality kibble can eliminate doggy odor too. I notice even if my boys have a crappy bully stick now and then... It smells them right up! Chemicals! Ugh!! Viv |
I was feeding Ry Primal premade raw in the mornings and Acana Kibble, at night... just because I travel a lot and don't want to have to travel with the raw....but lately I have been feeding raw morning and night. He does really well on it....and absolutely Loves it. I did actually feed him the Acana kibble, tonight though. |

Yeah.... I would start with a carpet cleaning and switch to a higher end kibble... and see what happens. Good Luck!! :) |
If you think it is the carpet. I would get a really good Carpet Cleaner and go to Petsmart or Petco and buy the Natures Miracle Carpet Shampoo. This works really well. You may have to do it several times. |
Thanks for all the advice guys Im gonna go out and get a cleaner tomorrow! Wish me luck!! Ill let you guys know how it goes! |
Because there are a bunch of dogs in my house,I wash the carpets about every 4 months (its time). I was a room like instructed, then I put more clean, hot water in the machine (no shampoo),rinse the carpet and this time I go over it until NO water comes up. It drys alot faster and isn't stiff with soap. I use the same shampoo on my furniture (the dogs lay there as well). In between I use the carpet sprinkle stuff, makes my vaccum smell good too. I do have one male that just smells, doesn't matter what he eats, he just smells like a little boy that has been playing outside when he has been outside. I keep his hair short, wash his face almost everyday and he gets a bath every 4 to 6 weeks. More often if life allows. I own my carpet cleaner,it was worth every penny spent. |
Is it definately the carpet? or the dogs? I know one time, I must of gotten water in Shays ear, and OH BOY, the smell was horrid..had to get ear drops. cleared it right up...no smell...Good luck hope you find something that works |
I have the Bissell steamer carpet cleaner vacuum. It works great. And if you can get an enzyme spray that works wonders as well. The only stink I smell in my house is my kids...Just kidding!lol :D When I walk into my house the only stink I smell is if my son forgot to take the trash out. My hubby tells me that he doesn't want to smell like dog. |
