I thought it was going to rip her to pieces I took my 2 babies to our local field for their run with their balls like I do everyday but wasn't expecting what came next. I checked the field for other dogs as always and saw none so let them off their leads. I threw Ollys ball and he returned it very quickly however when I threw Tias ball I heard a man shout "get here" . With that ,a huge staff had got under a fence from his property and charged towards Tia . Olly was at my feet waiting for me to throw his ball again but I picked him up quick and shouted to Tia to "come" however being friendly she was saying hello to this staff which was towering above her( shes 6lb) then it started to get aggresive toward her and she ran toward me screaming. I also was screaming at the man to get control of his dog which didn't take a blind bit of notice of him. All I could visualise was my 3 year old baby being ripped to bits by this dog just like a few of my friends with smaller dogs had been. Anyhow she tried to get to me but he was right on her heels and she was afraid to stop as he would then have her in his jaws so I grabbed the staffs collar and he turned to bite me but didn't succeed however his strength pulled me over and I was still holding Olly . I got up pretty quick and was screaming at the man to get his dog which he managed eventually.I grabbed Tia and she was so scared she had pooed herself down my jacket! He apologised for his dog getting under the fence and trying to attack my dog when his dog broke free from his hold and proceeded to jump up at me to get to both of my dogs. I was screaming once more . He grabbed it and left. I couldn't stop shaking and cuddling both my babies when I got home and now I feel a nervous wreck when I take them out. :( |
I do not even know what to say except Thank God all of you are ok. I was terrified reading your story. I am so sorry the 3 of you had to experience this. |
God Bless you, I can't imagine how terrified you were. I am so glad that your baby started running to you, but all 3 of you could have been killed or injured. I don't think I would ever want to go there again. |
I am so sorry, and I am relieved that you and your little ones were not injured! You poor thing, I would have been scared out of my mind. I can't believe the man lost control of his dog and that it went after you a second time. Just terrible. |
Oh my goodness that was a lucky escape for all of you! That is such a fear of mine. Whenever I am out with Buster I am always looking up and down the street as many people walk their big dogs off leash. It is so scary because no matter how vigilant you are something can happen in a second. I am so glad everybody is ok. |
Shew ....I have chills you guys are so lucky! I would be very careful about going to this place again. |
Wow! How frightening for this to have happened to you and your little ones. I'm so glad to read that everyone is fine........but holy sheep! |
How awful. I am so sorry that this happened to you and your doggies. I am always afraid to read attack stories because, so often the Yorkie is mauled or killed. I am so glad that you, Tia and Olly were not badly injured. I hope that the owner of the other dog will never let this happen again. |
How terribly scary. I'm so glad you are all OK |
I'm so glad that you and your babies are ok. I don't think I would be able to go back to that park. :( |
That sounds really scary I am glad you and your babies are ok. |
I am so glad that you and your little ones were not injured..report him for not having control of his dog.. |
Geez, glad you were able to grab that dog. I would have been screaming too. Glad everyone is okay! |
That is like one of my worst nightmares. I am always peeking around every corner when we walk or on every trail to see what is ahead or coming toward us. NOT that it would do me much good if they were charging toward me. My WORST nightmare is that if I were able to pick both of them up (my Westie is 16 lbs ) and the big dog were to jump on me to get at them. Just like what really happened to you. I am so glad you are ok. I'll bet you were so scared! |
Oh my! That is so scary! I am so sorry you and your babies had to go through this! Bless you! |
So glad you were all o.k., well sort of, that must have been terrifying! My worst nightmare as I have 3 and 2 hands!!! |
I read these kinds of stories all the time and get so upset that people don't have total control of their large dogs knowing very well that they would attack a small dog. If I were you I would report that. Maybe nothing will happen, but at least he would be on file in case anyone else reports him over his dog. |

Glad to hear u guys r ok!!! I would report him next time that dog could really hurt someone |
+1 on reporting the dog. |
My heart was pounding when I started reading your post. I am so glad everyone is ok. That is horribly scary. |
I was scared reading your post too but I imagine not 1/4 of the way you guys felt actually being in that situation! Does it make you want to get that bear mace or something like that to protect your babies... not even sure if that would help in this situation as you probably barely had time to think. |
How terrible for you! I'm so thankful you are all safe. I'd certainly report him. You were having a good time and to have it ruined by someone who doesn't control their own dog is unforgiveable. |
WOW! Glad the out come for you babies was positive. Great thinking on your part, if you had not grabbed that big dog he probably would have gotten your baby -- you are a hero for your babies:D |
I'm glad you and your babies are alright!! How terrifying that must have been. I hope your babies are able to overcome this emotionally as I am sure it scared them out of their minds. I just irks me how some big dog owners can be so irresponsible or own a dog with aggressive behavior. If he can't handle his dog he shouldn't have it in the first place. I've owned big dogs all my life and not once did they ever show any aggression to small dogs that got on our property as they were trained to get along with all dogs as all should be. It really is scary with all these dog attacks happening to our little ones. You get to the point to where you are almost scared to take them to a public place like a field or park where big dogs might be around. |
Wow...scary stuff. You are a good writer! You had my heart pounding as I read your story. I'm so glad it turned out well for you and your babies. It makes me want to be more cautious when I take Copper out. I will be watching for other dogs carefully from now on. |
thanks for all your support, I wanted to write about it as soon as it happened but my hands were shaking so much. I know for a fact that it was Tias quick thinking and her running speed that saved her from that attack , Olly is alot slower and surely would have been caught. She has taken to jumping in bed beside at night now since it has happened lol thanks again for your support. x |
Wow, my heart is racing after reading your story. I hope you never have to experience that again. |
I am so sorry this happened to you. I think there are two kinds of dog owners in the world; ones who have had problems with other people's aggressive dogs, and those who have yet had the pleasure. Since I am one of the former I carry both pepper spray and a folding utility knife whenever I walk in public (check your local laws as to what sort of personal protection items are allowed in your community). Sadly they have come in handy. I never let my yt off leash unless we are in the gated small dog park. I have had to snatch him up quickly on more than one occasion. It's just not worth the risk to not have him under my control at all times, and bad things can happen in a fraction of a second, even in one's own fenced in yard. I am sad that you had such a horrible experience. It will stay with you for a while. But you are all safe and well and that is what is important. Best to you and your little ones, stay safe. |
That's horrible! I always carry my baby because I'm paranoid. She has free reign in the house and runs like a wild woman but outside she's in my lap or arms. I'm crazy. |
